At least both will be getting a decent payday out of this but does Hatton really need to disfigure his legacy even further?

hatton always disfigures his legacy between fights :D

Despite wanting Hatton to stay retired I still think this would be a cool fight. Both guys got beat emphatically when they went up against the top two P4P boys in their last outings. Both guys are exciting fighters on the wane. JMM would be betting favourite, but if the Mayweather fight showed anything it's that he can't jump the weights like Pacman, and it might even things out a bit. Both guys like a fight. If Ricky wins it's a good way for him to go out and JMM get's another big payday, which he deserves, just for showing up. If JMM wins, well at least Hatton can say he fought the best around and shared the ring with some greats, if nothing else. I do worry about Ricky though. I thought the Pacman fight was horrible. Made me question why I like boxing. For about an hour

Floyd Mayweather Senior of course.

He re-juvinated the Hitman, working on defence, speed tactics. It was the best training camp Hatton ever head, everything went great from the roadwork, to the pad work to the sparring. Hatton never felt better.

He gave Hatton back that spring in his step, the glint in his eye and the hunger to be the best lb4lb fighter on the planet.

Oh sorry........... that was before the fight. :TU:

I can see a stoppage about 7 rounds for Marquez, this is too hard a fight for him. I still favour him to stop Khan!

there are a few names responsible for getting ricky in shape these days, one named Foster, a couple of germans - Kronenberg and Carlsberg - and there's even a woman, Stella Artois.

what a pointless throwing together of 2 stale names. i only see greed in this one. nothing good or meaningful to go with the greed.

marquez got fat and greedy, got used by his promoters who wanted a piece of Payweather, his promoters didn't look aftre him on the weight issue and a once great fighter found he was helpless in there. he's clearly just looking to cash out, and hopefully batter wicky on his way out.

wicky, well he seems to be done, doesn't he? he doesn't seem to be an elite level athlete any more and seemes to have lost all momentum following accomplished win over malignaggi.

are HBO really going to put money up for this fight, or will it be a sky box office UK fight with a good crowd?

agreed.

but you can forgive JMM getting 'fat and greedy'. he wasn't fighting in front of 20,000 at the MEN for years.

re the TV money, hmmmm, who knows?

Absolute nailed on Sky Box Office - if it happens.
It's a long distance away right now, but I always believe there's no smoke without fire.
It could be someone's leaked the preliminary talks and Rick's had to put a statement out.

i thought JMM was the perfect profile for a comeback fight for ricky, a few weeks back

perfect compromise between risk (older smaller fighter) and 'p4p level' rewards, IMO.

I think this is a pretty good fight still, Marquez is still a top 10 P4P fighter I'd say, and it's an intriguing clash - Rickly is the biggest stronger man, but Marquez is way better technically so it's one that should provide some entertainment.

What's the problem with this fight, not every single fight is a matchup of the very best in the world, but in fact, so often those matchups turn out to be duds in any case.

I favour Marquez to win this, but Hatton isn't a huge underdog. Marquez doesn't have the firepower of of Pacman, or the size of Mayweather, so I think it will probably go the distance, and there will be plenty of action.

The big question as far as Ricky's future is concerned is, "will this be billed as the farewell fight?"

I doubt it, I reckon he's going to try and use this as a springboard for a fight against either Mayweather or perhaps a big money event against DLH, who I can see returning for one last hurrah.

i believe they will leave that an open question, try and get loads into a massive footie stadium just on the basis that, even if its not his last hurrah, it's his adoring public's last chance to see him in old blighty.

I can imagine the PR now, 'well i had offers to fight in Vegas but I wanted to give my fans something back...' etc.....

I can just see Ricky Hatton trying to promote this fight, as usual, trying to fool the fans:

"JMM is the best lb4lb fighter in the world, i actually thought he got a clear decision against PBF and i don't know what the judges were thinking awarding PBF the win.

Ricky Hatton was unlucky against Pacman he battered him in the second round, but he got me with one shot.

It was all Floyd Senior's fault because the training camp went crap, something i expressed before the fight but was mis-interpreted in the media.

Ricky Hatton is fearless, and the only thing left for Ricky Hatton to achieve is becoming the best lb4lb fighter on the planet. This will be acheived when he beats JMM, a fully fledged welterweight.
