average year for Aussie boxing?

Post by dave896 »

Aside from the likes of Mundine vs Geale, the prospect of Green and RJJ this has been a pretty poor year in Aust. Despite the opportunity for boxing in the contender series and the ONE HD contract the year has lacked some serious, well matched fights.

Im not intending to knock the fighters, who put in hours of hard work in the gym, but I think more competitive match ups need to be made domestically. This year had too few fights like Haumono vs Kirby.

Lets hope the new year brings us something a little more interesting

Interesting fights to look out for at the end of the year.

Green v Jones
Wills v Gainer
Tomlinson v Kimbrough
Forsyth v Ammann
Houmono v Cronje
Bolling v Yannick
Bennett v Nazarena Rios
Omotoso v Yong park

Too a lesser degree;

Taylor v Sherington
Ganoy v Onikeke

Best fights of 2009 domestically, Mundine vs Geale, Vea vs Mccracken, Dib vs Browne, Medley vs Luiveni, just of the top of my head.

Maybe canvas classics will show the fight after a couple of weeks, they have been replaying fights from Australia this year about a month after the fight takes place, I've seen Solo vs Whitehead, Soliman vs Kietabusaba and a few others.

Shitty that a good matchup for 2 promising fighters like this doesn't get air time, or even better yet that a promoter with a televised card hasn't offered this matchup to be aired on the 3 back to back shows in November,December.

The people who run Main Event seem to be in love with WWE and MMA.

No room for the real thing. :shame:
