BS.com: What did you think of Pacquiao's win over Cotto?

Paul Malignaggi: I think there is something up with Manny Pacquiao. I am not going to get into it. I think people will understand what I am saying. Full blown welterweights don't take those type of punches from Miguel Cotto the way he took them with total disregard for his power nor do they hurt him with every punch they hit him with. These are full blown welterweights I am talking about. This guy is coming up in weight and doing all these things. There is something up with this guy but that's as far as I am going to go into it. Floyd Mayweather (Senior) has gotten into it a little bit. There have been other fighters who have mentioned it. I am not going to get into no controversy. I am going to leave it at that. There is something that seriously makes me feel weird about Manny Pacquiao. I am going to leave it at that.

exactly great way of promoting steroids tho :DDD take them & smash your way too the top.

we saw how destructive he was v barrera & morales two of the most toughest fighters ever, floored jmm 3 times & mayweather cant even trouble him,all the way up @ 147lb's.
cotto's shots didnt have much in them he was spent after a few rds & never had the strength to bully manny simple as,i never saw manny as greatly stronger just cotto greatly weaker.

manny has faith in roach & arum & has confidence in taken given fights like oscar on his own promotion :TU:

roach is honest he said dlh aint touched down to 147 in 7 years & is 36 i know he would be weakend.
also mentioned of being hugely confident v hatton watching the laczano fight he felt hatton should of had as his farewell.

I've thought hes been doing something since I saw him so shredded at 130lbs, getting bodyfat that low while maintaining muscle is very difficult, certain steroids help preserve muscle while reducing bodyfat. He also has elite level athleticism, which could mean hes doing something

And as for the 'steroids dont give you a chin', they make you stronger, strong legs/neck/back give a good chin.

I wouldnt say for certain he is, but I'd say it might be likely, his thin skin is a possible tell tale sign

Fact is, Pac went from being stunned and having a really rough night with JMM to walking through Miguel Cottos punches in a matter of 2 years. Hmmm.

Paulie is bitter because Cotto left him looking like the elephant man. Pac man's physique has not altered radically IMO. If you want to see a roid enhanced fighter take a look at Alaistar Overeem. I would be surprised if Pac Man was found to be juicing.

I glad Paulie didn't go into it and left it at that.

Innocent til proven otherwise. This is as annoying as the people who reckon Bolt is using. A few comments from a few clearly jealous people won't take the shine off Manny being one of the best fighters of his generation.

Why cant people just accept that sometimes someone Special comes along
Pacman is at his peak and is very fresh at the weight. he took some heavy shots but juts because hes "smaller" doesnt mean he should automatically be knocked out

Its always the same when someone performs out of theis world
Usain Bolt gets the same comments aswell.

If there cheating they will be found out ,

Pacman is just hard as nails

The effect of steroids is ridiculously overrated IMO, sure they can make a difference but some people seem to think after taking some steroids that it has the same effect as Popeyes spinach.

Call me a cynic but I think a lot more sportsmen and women in general are taking some form of performance enhancing drug than people think but as the saying goes - you're innocent until proven guilty.

I would be really gutted to find out he was using. I don't think he is at all.

I also think Cotto's punches were having an effect until he went down, after that Cotto's punches were slow and didn't look too powerful, whether that was the weight or he was just buzzed after the KD I don't know. You can always tell when a punch affects Manny as he beats his head/body like King Kong and comes right back at ya

Excellent post. All the guys in the EBF, well a lot of them, are on the gear and they go down just as easy as the rest. Steroids wouldn't turn your chin form being knocked about left right and centre to walking through murderous punches in 2 years. When was the last time pacman was down... ??

Paulie talks crap.If you have proof bring it, but to cast doubt on an elite fighter and a potential ATG just smacks of bitterness and jealousy especially as the fighter in question has battered both fighters Paulie got beat by. Concentrate on the sea of medocrity that is your own career as opposed to making jibes and casting doubts on your betters. and same with Mayweather SR, stfu already. Unless testing reveals something fishy I dont think these assertions should even be entertained.

Hmm...can't remember, I think - though I'm not sure - that it was the first Barrera fight which was what, 6 years ago? :-?

Is the major difference with Pacquaio between now and when he burst onto the scene by mashing Barrera to bits (!) not that his technique has improved massively?

There has just been an enormous leap in the way he fights -- using the right more, introducing the uppercut, his head movement and his incredible, incredible footwork.

In the early days he had raw athleticism and blockbuster power. Now he also has one of the best techniques and rounded attacks in the game. The combination of the four make him near unstoppable at anywhere below 147.

People dont realise how being at a weight thats good for you improves your chin.Cotto for example looked very shaky all the time at light welter but looked solid at welter.
If pac was boiling down from his natural lwelter/welter weight to unnatural weights hed have felt it more if hes at a good weight for his body the punches may just bounce off

Pretty pathetic from Malignaggi, strikes me as the ranting of a bitter man who couldn't cut it at the highest level. If he's got anything to back this up he should come out and state it rather than the snide insinuations above, take the risk of being sued and prove his point. Otherwise he should keep quiet and stop lowering the tone and bringing the sport into disrepute.

There are plenty of blood and urine tests before and after fights so if he is doing something he would have been caught out by now. Paulie, you are one of my favourite boxers but shut the fvck up for once!

Alot of people love to knock a great sportsman when they get to the top of their respectve sport..Pacman is an exceptional talent in my opinion!
