Mayweather Jr vs Matthew Hatton?
Re: Mayweather Jr vs Matthew Hatton?
Hold on, Brook would destroy Ricky Hatton? The Ricky Hatton that pretty much shutout Malignaggi a couple of fights ago??
Brook aint no Manny guys

Me too - they saw a nice big gravy boat that they could all climb into and sail off into the sunset.CheckHook wrote:I always felt that Floyd, Oscar & Ricky had a big multi-fight plan laid out which included fights in the UK and America but when Ricky got taken out so easily by Floyd all those plans got ruined. Since then I think the three have struggled to adjust to missing out on that. That's why Oscar dropped so much weight to chase Pacquiao and now why Floyd still seems desperate to carve a niche for himself in the UK, with or without Ricky. If he is serious about a tune-up in the UK though, they might as well just do Hatton Mayweather 2.
I think they thought Hatton would lose to Mayweather, but acquit himself well, then Oscar could beat Pacman, and they could set up Hatton v Oscar, with the winner getting another shot at Mayweather.
Didn't quite pan out like that did it?

He lost a close SD over 12 rounds picking himself up off the canvas along the way.

the fact that fatton didn't move his head once in the pacman fight. his punch resistance has gone. ricky would be a punch bag. brook would do hatton in 4..my opinionWales wrote:You're talking Ricky Hatton here? Re: Mayweather Jr vs Matthew Hatton?
Its debatable whether his "punch resistance has gone" - where is the evidance of this? The fact the hardest puncher on the planet, who retired de la hoya and put Cotto over on numberous occassions sparked him?
Ricky would not be a punchbag, and Brook is no Manny Pacquiao. Hatton has never had great head movement, if anything has gone missing its his footwork, he's become more flat footed.

Re: Mayweather Jr vs Matthew Hatton?
he was outcold from pacman's left hook. cotto got hurt by it. but wasn't stretched out on the canvas like fatton. ricky's reactions are shocking. he has had too many tough fights. pacman is not the hardest puncher on the planet!!!! get off his philipino nuts. i knw brook is no pacman. but hatton is past it. brook would brutally ko him.Wales wrote:Its debatable whether his "punch resistance has gone" - where is the evidance of this? Re: Mayweather Jr vs Matthew Hatton?
Pacman is one of the best p4p punchers on the planet... name the guys that hit harder p4p.
hatton walked, no dived straight onto it! Cotto didnt dive in at any point but was still repetedly felled.
I am on pacquiaos nuts, a 6 weight world champion who's just oblitored a future hall of famer at 147 lbs.. but you're the one tipping Brook to beat Hatton and to fight Mayweather?! Is it not you on brooks nuts?

Really... name them
Tszyu
Mayweather
Collazo
3 ?
4 if you include a 2nd rd KO, but apparently its in this fight that it all went to shit, after having a career best performance in the fight before.
Ricky Hattons biggest criticism, throughout his career, was not enough tough fights!

Re: Mayweather Jr vs Matthew Hatton?
No, scroll back and read the post you responded to that says "one of the best p4p punchers on the planet" - I didnt just change it now. Why would any half knowledgable human being think a 10st 7 fighter would punch harder than anyone else, including 20 stone fighters?
So its joke that brook would be able to face Mayweather, but "he'd rape Hatton inside 4 rounds" hmmm.
"Seems like I want to cry" - what sort of comment is that, sorry, is it half term or something at the moment? Or are Mcdonalds closed for a steam clean? Cry? Not really, I've just seen nothing at all from you apart from words like "rape" and "slaughter" to suggest how Brook would do this to Hatton, who, prior to the Pacquiao fight, had one of his career best performances.
For me Ive not seen brook operate at a high enough level to suggest he'd beat a fringe world class operator. Do you even accept there is a gulf in class between someone like Michael Lomax and Ricky Hatton?

Re: Mayweather Jr vs Matthew Hatton?
No im not, im questioning
a) How Brook "Rapes" Hatton inside 4 rounds. The terminology you've used is foul for starters, then you go on to say no head movement. Show me a Hatton fight, ever, where he moves his head to slip punches throughout the fight.
b) Too many tough fights. Hatton hasnt had too many tough fights, I'd like to see statistics on how many rounds he's lost aside form his defeats. It wont be many I dont think. Its far more likely he's suffered from the weight making issues, his lifestyle and bloating between fights then trying to trim back down to the weight he was as a youngster. Not the punishment or punches taken.
Even at this stage of his career, anyone who "slaughters" Hatton inside 4 rounds makes a massive statement on the world scene. Hatton isnt a Lomax or Mcintyre.
You say about Pacman knocking him out cold, what of the weight making issues in that fight? He looked drained going in etc... ?

Re: Mayweather Jr vs Matthew Hatton?
If it wasn't for Manny, I think Mayweather and Oscar would have fought in the UK. Okay, Hatton was ultimately outclassed against Floyd - but it was intriguing enough and things didn't go according to plan which would have made a rematch sellable - ref, preperation, weight etc.
Nobody would have been critical of a rematch had he beaten Pacquiao - he didn't though... he got anhilated by him.
I think Marquez is an ideal fight for Ricky to get back into the picture somewhat. He needs to do a number on him, I don't think he will.
I would rather see Khan fight Mayweather than Brook.

Re: Mayweather Jr vs Matthew Hatton?
i remember putting a question to mayweather on boxingchat about junior witter.
around the time witter was the wbc no1 at 140 and floyd had that title.
floyd pretty much laughed it off and dismissed it out of hand.
just like ricky did tbh.

no way.stujones wrote:I would rather see Khan fight Mayweather than Brook.
least khan has some future potential in world class.
a lesson off floyd could destroy khan.
brook won't get the fight.
but least he's more of an unknown quantity and could do with the payday and profile that fight would bring him.

If he fights in the uk against any of aforementioned fighters I hope he gets done in 1 round and loses the potential to make any more big money
