Good luck in the future Derry - I was there at the guild hall in Preston for your debut where you stopped some russian fella with a right-hand to the body in the very first round. You looked a good prospect even back then and went on to have some cracking wins. I remember giving some people who had come to watch you directions to the guild hall (they had scouse accents ). Can't believe that was six years ago! Man time flies.....once again all the best for the future, I'm sure you will make a fine trainer.

i do mate altho i did beat simpson when he was chamion i couldn win the title for some crazy reason also wanted a cenral area belt aswel wanted them all thats what am in the game for , tell rock thanks for the wars we had , great sparring partner and a friend for life

Derry what do you plan on doing (career wise) now that you have hung your gloves up?I always think that it must be very daunting for a fighter when his boxing career comes to a premature end especially when he has a young family to fend for.Good luck in whatever you do derry and thanks for the memories.

Carney Bowman, jesus, there's name from the past. I remember chatting with him after the Dlh-Hopkins weigh-in and he was a nice kid. He won on the undercard of that show and impressed but never seemed to get a major fight, as yet anyway.

derry in my oponion you should take 18 months out and come back you been in the game for ages just have a rest spend time with your family and recharge the batteries, it would be a shame for you knock it on the head but your health and family comes first... all the best mate.
