Everyone I know who has met him in person has nothing but good things to say about him. Sure he's made a some mistakes (car incidents) but I still don't quite understand why there is such hate towards him. Out of interest, why do you think he is a "tosser"?

I met Khan and his father just before the Drilzane fight at an amateur boxing show in Cookstown, Northern Ireland. Khan had been asked to come over by a local club for their annual show Khan turned up, paying his own way and also his family and friends. Barry McGuigan was asked to appear also but demanded payment. I found Amir and his father to be down to earth genuine people. Khan came across as quite shy and his father was great company.

He would be very lucky to last 2 rounds even with his new hit and run tactics.

jamesmcdonnell wrote:I rewatched Pacman Cotto the other night, and I have to say, he's absolutely phenomenal. He has an extra gear that other fighters just don't seem to have, and what's really impressive is how cultured his defence and movement has become.

I don't know of any fighter I've ever seen who can punch so fast, so hard and from so many angles, whilst still moving around on the balls of his feet.

I thought Cotto was doing quite well on first watching - but having watched it again, it was just a matter of time before he was ripped to bits - Pacman was just so much quicker, and Cotto whilst he had a few moments couldn't hurt him.

Cotto landed a flush uppercut in round 3, snapping Pacman's head back, and it had absolutely no effect.

The only way I see anyone hurting Pacman is with body shots, he definitely looked a little stung by Cotto's body shots.
What's amazing is that looking back it seems like an easy win for Manny, because the second half of the fight he was so dominant. But the first four rounds were incredibly competitive, it's just that Cotto was at the very limits, and Pacquaio could explode up a gear at any time.

The fourth round, in particular, is my shout for round of the year.

Meantime, Amir clearly isn't in Pacquiao's league right now -- or even within striking distance of his league. But he CAN help Pacquaio to train for Mayweather. It's very difficult to find someone with Mayweather's speed above featherweight, but Amir's jab might be nearly as fast, so it'll be a very useful training for Pacquaio... and, more to the point, Khan, who I believe has only had fairly light sparring with Pacquaio until now. Certainly nothing like CAstillo and Manny were doing

Khan and Mayweather are like chalk and cheese in how they use the jab .. and how the deliver it.

Just because Khan has fast hands doesn`t really mean a lot in preparing for the Mayweather jab.

Khans jab is a text book jab - nothing more .. there is no savvy or surprise connected to it as Floyds has in abundance.

oh no. khan is robbing us of this great fight. this great fight that was always on the cards, with pac cashing out in multi million $ PPV spectacular catchweights - with seemingly every welter and light middle in the world desperate to cut their right arm off to make the weight...

...meanwhile, with amir being a rookie world champ who is only just maturing, who fights in the same stable as pac, and is making his first title defense soon, and ha syet to headline in america.

hmm, very newsworthy.

the question should be of course khan won't fight pac because he's not even ready yet, he's 22 years old, hes had 21 fights, and he's only just become a world champion.

i tell you what considering this is a boxing site with genuine boxing fans, some of you when regarding khan are like casual fans as common sense goes straight out of the window.

just think before you discuss boxing with proper boxing fans.

You mean being a world champion doesn`t kinda say he is the best at that weight in the world and able to fight other world title class fighters?

There was a time when being the worlds champion meant you were worthy and capable of fighting whoever operates at that weight .. I guess times have changed.

i kindof agree with this ^^^^

yeah, times have changed, so nowadays, we have a kindof sub-category, 'world champion but still relatively green'

20 or more years back, Khan would have still been going through the national/Euro title levels.

so i think it's fair to- if not cut him some slack- maybe to allow for the realistic position he's in?

I mean, he didn't create the rules/ situation whereby he could become such a green 'world champ', did he?

and given the circumstances, he's (/his handlers) hardly likely to turn down 'world title' shots if he can get them...?

times have changed, we all know that, theres four titles now, riduclous i know, but that's the way it is, and khan hasn't fought an elite fighter in his prime yet. pac is like floyd, these are the best boxers on this entire planet, and pac and maybe even floyd will probably go down as one of the greatest boxers ever in history, so comparing khan who is only 22 years old, who has had 21 fights, already lost by knockout to prescott to the likes of pac now is beyond stupidity, either that or some of you guys on here must rate him very highly to even bother taking it seriously. khan answered the question realistically and honsestly and basically " i'm not at that level yet".. what more do you want him to say, he's being more realistic than some of you guys on here, and he's definitly showing some more common sense that's for sure.

As far as I`m concerned, if a person holds a world title, then they should fight anybody world class who operates at that weight. Otherwise they aren`t worthy of the worlds champion status. Otherwise - apart from greed and hype - whats the point winnning the title?

and pac doesn't operate at khan's weight at the moment. khan has mentioned he would like to fight the winner of diaz-malignaggi winner, so that's not a bad fight.

Sorry, yes, my mistake. Amir 'Force of Nature' Khan would do what all the world class boxers of recent years have failed to do. Easily.
You had a laugh obviously, and so did I.

Enzo Mac is a prime example. He was WBO champion, yet definately not the best, which has been proven, who took on a genuine World champion and lost horribly.

Its unbelievable that Khan will now be able to say he was 'world champion'. Cant believe he's even being spoke about in the same sentence as Paman :o . Khan is one of the most protected and pamperd fighters in history. How the f*ck can you be sparked out in under a minute and in two fights be fighting for the 'world' title.....and now he's being spoke about in the sme breath as Pacman...whats this sport coming to!

I would type out what I'm really thinking about some of the posters thoughts on here but it would probably end up getting replaced by the dreaded -

EDITED BY MOD - VERY OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE

- so I won't bother.
