Best European Title Fights

Post by Autobarn »

Recently we had Rendall Munroe vs Simone Maludrottu in a tough 12 round battle.

A few weeks before that we had Ryan Rhodes v Jamie Moore, in an amazing battle that went back and forth in the last 2 rounds, with Rhodes stopping Moore. There were so many great shots in this fight.

I believe both the above were world title eliminators, so obviously it gave the fighters something extra to fight for.

Not long ago, Thaxton-Mezaache. Thaxton all but scoring first round KO, the Frenchman cheating ("losing" gumshield), edging Thaxton in some serious exchanges in (I believe) riveting 9th and 10th rounds, gaining narrow decision.

Thoms Ulrich v Rachid Kanfouah is an overlooked one, up at light heavy. A very tough fight with lots of hard shots.

A few years ago, Haye v Fragomeni. Haye appeared to be breaking his man down, then Frago cut him badly, Haye caked in blood storms back fr late TKO.

I am also tempted to put Earl v Romanov, as it was probably the top 2 in Europe at the time and a great 12 rounder with Earl outhustling Romanov despite taking shots that may have ruined him in the long run. No title was on the line.

Almost forgot, Romanov v Melero. Melero boxing his ears off, dropping him, then Romanov knocking him cold in the 4th.

Affif Djelti v Pedro Miranda was a cracking fight for the super-feather belt....used to love watching Djelti box.

i think both John Simpson and Paul Truscott's fights were for the C'wealth belt. The first sounded a good one.

I thought Dunne vs Pickering was an awesome display of boxing from the Irishman.

Jason Cook vs Sandro Casamonica was a good figh whilst it lasted: Cook got caught and dropped in the third by a combination finished with a big right hook. The big punching Italian came in for the finish and was loading up on Cook but out of nowhere Cook uncorks a monster lefthook that lands flush on Casamonica's chin and knocks him spark out. The ref tried to prolong the count in order to give Casamonica a chance to recover but he wasn't getting up anytime soon.

A fight well worthy of the European title was Graham Earl vs Romanov - cracking fight and a cracking performance by Earl. Probably the best of his career.
