The knockdown of Carl Johannson that you have put on here Real Deal was pretty funny, but this one for me is funnier. Is he the most inept person ever to step into the ring?

You'll probably tell me that he went on to win a world title or something.

hehe.

that right hand from the other guy was actually pretty well timed, he had to adjust to the guy vaulting and twisting from the turnbuckle... not something you learn in training, i presume.

I'll take a guess and say that's Charlie Weir. The ruthless South African puncher from the 80's - he always wore those striped trunks, and the build looks about right.

Wish I had the clip, Charlie Chaplin would've been proud at the slapstick way the poor ref keels over, stiff as a board

Good shout, MW. Think it could be vs. Carlos Betancourt at the Felt Forum? I was thinking that because of the Budweiser logo... but I vaguely remember seeing similar rings in ZA fights. I know Red Dragon has Betancourt vs. Iran Barkley... maybe someone who has seen that could confirm that's what he looks like?

Another thing that raises doubt is that Betancourt was 11 and 3 when he faced Weir, so it would be quite bizarre behaviour from someone who must have known he needed to win if he had any non-journeyman aspirations. Or perhaps the guy is just a twat...

Hmmm could be. Weir used to be a favorite of mine - always liked the vunerable big hitters for pure entertainment.
I just had a look to see if there's a photo of him anywhere, and saw a S.African paper refers to him as the late Charlie Weir.

I had no idea he had died?! Must've only been in his 40's..

That has to be the funniest moment I have ever seen. Hilarious. Nice find stujones.

Although it wasn't a knockout, only a knockdown, I'm sure I remember a really funny situation with one of Johnny Nelson's opponents.

His opponent came into the ring in a Tuxedo, danced around the ring when he got in it, then whipped off the Tuxedo in one swift move, then did some flamboyant dance when the MC introduced him.

What happens next? Nelson puts him on his backside with the very first punch.

I must have seen it about 20 times now, and it still cracks me up - the way his legs dangle after the shot - he is just completely out of it.

I'm weeks behind reading Boxing News, but found an absolute gem from that fabled warrior Matthew Barney.

When referring to his bout with Simeon Cover he had the cheek to say of his opponent " he didn't come to fight!" .

The late Charlie Weir. I think he died of Lukemia about 16 years ago.

I think he wasn't actually running scared, but (still bizarre) was trying to take the piss out of the other guy. This was taken a few seconds b4 the end of the round, and the nutter thought it would be smart to sit on the ropes and wait for the bell.
