Thought I'd comment on it...

British fighter of the year they have Danny Williams at 3. Although he obviously deserves a mention in the top 10 I think 3 is way too high. When you consider he beat a shot Tyson but lost to Sprott and was thoroughly outclassed against Klitschko. Harrison definitely deserves to be above him, Barnes, Kelly also. And Alexander perhaps above him. One good win and 2 losses does not make a good year for anyone I dont care what anyone says. Not downplaying the achievement but when you're reviewing the year you have to take the whole 12 months into account.

Carl Thompson and now (given the Melis revenge) Alexander deserves to be mentioned (although if he lost to Melis in 2004 then he doesn't deserve such a big praise).

Haven't seen the list - but I think your right on Williams, Barnes certainly deserves to be placed higher.

Alexander lost to Mellis in December 2003 so not this year.

Kelly is out because he lost to Pachecco and also hasn't done anything out of the ordinary, he was "expected" to beat Booth. Thomas McDonough is a tad unlucky not to make my list, had some good wins in 2004.

Cook is a great shout he should def be in there. Williams should be at 10 at the highest, 1 good win and 2 terrible losses is not a good year as I said earlier!

Bit harsh changing your #1 fighter there. Did you write it before the Williams vs Klitchsko card (as Alexander vs Melis was on the same night).

I wrote it after Alexander-Mellis (Mellis had previously flattened Wayne, so that was an excellent win; can't understand it when people criticise fighters who win on points; those 10 rounds will enable Wayne to look much better against McDonagh, believe me).

Think Alexander should have been higher (if you don't mind me saying). As he scored two good wins in 2004, a year in which he has been undefeated.

EDIT - Although saying that he did struggle vs Clarke in 2004, but ground out the win.

I think Wayne did well considering who was left out: Michael Hunter, Matt Skelton, Scott Dann, Carl Froch, Nicky Cook, Johnny Nelson, Peter Haymer, et all.

I think there are at least 10 more deserving cases who've stayed busy and moved their careers forward. Nelson has been going nowhere for a while. A good win but one good win does not make a great year for me.

Nice to see Michael Hunter in your thoughts Bennie. Not his most active year but certainly his most significant. He is busting for Pickering in 2005 and I believe that fight will come off if Sky can produce the goods. Until then it looks like he may be boxing Salem Bouaita (who took Cook and Medjkoune the distance and was stopped in nine by Monshipour.

No question one young lad has done more for the sport in this country than every promoter every top ten fighter combined, a young lad who fought the best in the world and was a pride to himself and the country.
