You wanna see racism you should come live here for six months.
Tell us more about that - I am interested in your experiences in Barbados..
South Korea has a lot of anti-foreigner racism from a section of disgruntled natives (usually middle aged arseholish men called
adjosshis
who cannot stand seeing Korean women with the evil barbaric
waygook) China is a lot better but there is still an undercurrent of racism here. Still there are good people everywhere that make up for it.
Datuse always good to talk to you mate, interesting I never knew romany hailed out of india thanks for the enlightenment ;;-)
Carlos lots mate...its the usual some have a chip on their shoulder about stuff that happened 200 years go...though some of it stems from modern society.
An example occured yesterday when my mate was at immigration renwewing his work visa, everyone q-ing up and some guy busts through knocking an old lady out of the way...my mate who is white brit gtrabbed the guy as he went past by the collar to remonstrate and ended up getting rounded on as he was the only white guy.... by the crowd who had forgotten decency and substitied a race issue as in their eyes i guess they saw a white man mis-handling a black man and reacted accordingly....
Security gaurd had to intervene as he witnessed the lot. My mate was seriously shook up though it could have got real nasty.
Been in supermarkets when they have closed the till down - i have joined another line and they opened up the till to serve locals..
Being hustled for money and Drinks as an expat seen as a wallet by folk you know..more subtle but it happens.
Driving .............often dont get let out and forcibly blocked in when at junctions...little things but you notice it doesnt happen when you are in a car with a local workmate.
It all adds up but like i say i try and keep a cool head and rise above it.
But you are never in douibt you are a foreign person working in someones else's land. Never ever.
Very much a them and us out here Im sorry to say, I have some good local mates but few and far between.
Superficially people are friendly and fine but beneath the surface you arent really accepted.
Still Lond is also like that may not be particular to here maybe its just emphasised as Im in the minority....
Its still a wonderful place to work and live and great for the kids so its pros and cons....like anywhere i guess..i miss my real old friends and family though...sometimes its tougher than you would imagine...as you probably know yourself.
