A simple answer mate.
There just isn't enough money in the kitty to secure a marquee name.
Even Wazza can do the maths and he ain't gonna pour money down the sink.
then why not Prescott?

Then Khan's viewing numbers slumped.
Wazza has no TV Contract with anyone.
I believe the Khan deal was on a fight by fight basis, and subject to Sky approval.
The final nail in the coffin for this deal I truly believe was the Haye result, and the viwing figures.
If the numbers are to be believed Sky grossed £448,500 for the last Khan fight, and £11,960,000 for the Haye fight.
No brainer for Sky.
I also believe that the last few Khan fights have been loss makers for Wazza.
I do have sympathy for Wazza here but ultimately Khan was inevitably going to "do a Naz" and at some stage.
I also think that the outcome is going to be similar.
Families and Boxing Management / Promotion just do not mix.
why would you have sympathy fro wazza?? he is a complete knob ed

Surely we're missing a key point here? That being that Khan isn't, when judged by the most important criteria of revenues, a marquee name.
I don't think Warren will actually be that concerned about 'losing' Khan because he's proven to be a 'difficult sell' to the public and won't have provided Frank with anything like the income that some of his fighters in the past have done. Couple that with the difficulties of dealing with Amir's 'entourage' and I can't see him losing much sleep over this.
Judged from Khan's perspective however, it seems a ridiculous move. Whatever fanbase he did have, it certainly doesn't exist in the States, and whatever Warren's well documented shortcomings, his rebuilding of Khan's career has been masterful. Khan won't get that type of treatment in the States, purely because to the Golden Boys and Bob Arums of this world he's nothing more than another fighter in the mix, rather than being a marquee name that needs protecting and/or investment.
It's got Hamed mark 2 written all over it at the moment and next year could see the Amir revival brought to a spectacular standstill.

A US Promoter is already monitoring the carcass.

I hope we don't start getting crap FNF again. The latter PPVs were pretty good value.

Wales,
There were major contractual problems with Prescott and the issue of alleged options.
They won't work together again.

That's a bloody understatement.

A smart move would be to put him on the Mayweather Pacman PPV undercard on May 1st against Maidana.

On the issue of Sky generally, I think most of their dates are already allocated to Promotors.
I don't know if Wazza has secured any of those dates, but certainly Maloney and Hatton have a healthy share, with Hearn less so but he does provide Prizefighter.
Mr Boxing - my sympathey with Wazza is in the fact that once he realised he had a flawed asset he masterly recreated his career.
Like him or like him not, the resurrection of Khan has been well handled.

Can someone explain how exhuming an old fat Barerra & importing a passionless soft-hitting counter puncher with a title belt was a 'masterful resurrection' of Amir by FW?

As recent as the 1980's contests of that quality would simply be international 10 rounders - no title and certainly not reputation-restoring.

Amir might keep his hands up now but he's still the same chinless celebrity boxer with no charisma & only 33, 000 fans (according to MEN turn out + PPV sales). If Salita knocks him out it wouldn't even be an upset, brand new promotions companies, stateside moves and whatever else all go kerblooey.

You mean the same Barrera that's fighting for a world title in Jan?

That fight, whatever it is, will never happen Emerson.

If it does it's clearly a bogus paper belt, that won't qualify Amir's technical decision head butt victory as some kind of legit win.

Is that versus Paulus Moses?

Moses will hammer him, which I pray finally convinces the bloke to hang them up.

it will, because who the eff is Salita! His last fight was against someone that was 20-11 or somehting, his record is littered with "who the fornicate is he" names and he has a (very) poor knockout record at a poor class.

Why would Warren get Khan a marquee name for his last fight under his banner. Warren does have faith in Khan's ability, sure his opposition has had some criticisms, but he is 22 and a world champion - fighting some good European level opponents in the process.

What happens if Warren put Khan in with, say, Juan Manuel Marquez and Khan won.

Look what happend to Hatton and Calzaghe on their last fight under the Warren banner.... they became marquee fighters in the states.

Taking a prospect who'd just been blown away in one round and guiding him to a world title less than a year after is masterful promotion judged in a business context.
Doesn't mean you have to like it as a fan, but commercially it was very shrewd match-making on Warren's part.
