Butterbean vs. Mike Weaver

Post by delisa »

This from USA Today --

Esch, a 6-foot, 355-pounder, is a former Toughman competition champion who has become known as the "King of the Four-Rounders" in his seven years as a professional. In Esch's last fight on May 5, he knocked out Weaver in four rounds.

Did Esch in fact beat Mike Weaver??

I highly, Higly doubt it...
1) Weaver is a bigger name than Most of 'bean's opponents, so it would be highly publicized by his people.
2) I've seen this on 0 of the major boxing sites.
3) Never saw it on a schedule, or TV listings.

There is another heavyweight who goes by the name Michael Weaver. He is (0-2) and both fights are in the south, so it IS possible he fought the 'Bean.

Someone should contact fightfax on this one.

The Miami Herald wrote about the upcoming Bean vs. Larry Holmes bout and had Bean listed as 45-1, so it's clear that a lot of newspapers do not have the correct records for many fighters.

Dane, That's also done justt to hype up a fight/fighter and make it into something it's not...

wouter has a very valid point, Miami Herald isn't exactly Ring magazine and could easily mess up things like that
