Anthony Small v Thomas McDonagh press conference
It was a lively affair as you might expect, the highlight of which was Small presenting McDonagh with a bag of groceries because he reckons anyone who thinks he can beat him is "either thick or needs the money" Small reckons McDonagh can't afford to feed himself. http://www.brandhatton.com/tv

some boxers can pull the cockyness off but hes just embarassing and makes himself look a tit, and so far he is unproven beond domestic level there was an interview the other week he said he the best light middle in the world, i stand by my first post this man is a TOOL
.
and its ok being religious in a sport like this lots of boxers are but there was not need to tell everyone wot was written on his hat, when nobody even asked him.

Re: Anthony Small v Thomas McDonagh press conference
Thats your opinion but I'm sure plenty find him more entertaing than a 'tit'. Yes he is unproven beyond domestic level but do you think it wrong that a boxer should/would believe in himself and 'believe' he is the best in the world? Im sure many fighters believe in themselves and many believe that they are the best but not confident enough to say it. Smalls just a very confident man, nothing wrong with that. Some people like or need to put pressure on themselves to push themselves to the limit or bring out the best in them. Its like they give themself no option but to succeed, I can understand why thoughs who do that do it. Its like backing themselves in a corner, you have to fight your hardest out.ginger_sack wrote:some boxers can pull the cockyness off but hes just embarassing and makes himself look a tit, and so far he is unproven beond domestic level there was an interview the other week he said he the best light middle in the world, i stand by my first post this man is a TOOL.

Do people bat an eyelid when fighters get on their knees and do the sign of the cross in the corner before the fight starts? No. I've seen fighters kiss a cross they wear, no one asks or wonders because its common knowledge, what was written on Smalls hat I agree nobody asked but Im sure a few wondered...so Small made it clear to who/who maybe wondered. Dont think anyone should take offense, he didn't say anything wrong or bad to anyone did he?

Bit cringeworthy IMO, he's trying to be like ALI, but he's not smart enough, and all that "you must need the money" nonsense is just silly, whats the most he's ever earned for a fight fifteen grand? Act like Mayweather when youve made it sport. And no, no one was wondering what was written on your hat

i think small is a proper div and i hate people that bring religion into sport there is no need for itDes1 wrote:Thats your opinion but I'm sure plenty find him more entertaing than a 'tit'. Excellent post. Fans are never happy:Des1 wrote:Here we go, why dont people just lighten up! Cant you see Small is just having a wind up and actually trying to wind his opponents up as has been done in the past by fighters in any way which or form?!. If it gives Small an edge to even think it works even if it doesn't then he is preparing himself to be in the best frame of mind to win. Everyone is different and use different appoaches to get in the best frame of mind, some are quite and moody, some are loud and cocky, some try to be intimidating, some polite and some jokers, everyone is different and some need to go to the extreme in their ways to get the best out of themselves. Small when he acts like this is never malicious, he shows its just banter in the the jokey way its done and he always shakes hands showing his respect, whether you like it or not all he is trying to do is drum up publicity for himself. Some people need to stop being so serious!

Brash/confident = arrogant/disrespectful
Keeps to himself/polite = lacks charisma/boring
Down to earth/one of the lads = cliched
Intimidating = thug

Re: Anthony Small v Thomas McDonagh press conference
I reckon McDonagh's boxing skills will cause Small some big problems, not a good style match up for him at all. 10/1 for a McDonagh on points was too good to refuse. I think a fight with Sam Webb would have been easier for Small.

McDonagh style leaves something to be desired with regards to entertainment value but I'd just like to comment on the bill as a whole and congratulate Hatton Promotions - cracking looking bill with well matched fights from top to bottom!
Brodie-Crolla should be a little cracker while it lasts and good to see Andy Morris on the comeback trail - hopefully he can get back in the mix for titles soon.

Re: Anthony Small v Thomas McDonagh press conference
ye not a great style matchup but people will still watch the fight coz of anthony small and what an entertainer he is, and also because of the undercard whic is credit to ricky, gareth williams and richard poxon.martin_g91 wrote:This is a really bad fight. small is always going to divide opinion but i like him he's always a good laugh and his record and current accomplishments backs him up.

that is compleatly different they aint getting on there knees or making a cross and then telling everyone why they do it, everything that guy does is forced just like sweetscience said a couple of posts above his confidence is forced he tries to hard, and imo he does that with his religion to he compleatly over does it.
Re: Anthony Small v Thomas McDonagh press conference
you're the tool coming on here giving it "I know who you are" like a jive-ass from the comfort of your anonymity. Kind of renders anything you post on these boards garbage to meDes1 wrote:Here we go, why dont people just lighten up! What a strange post?
Re: Anthony Small v Thomas McDonagh press conference
Small is a retard. The thing is though its not actually his fault, its just he's thick as two short planks.
I honestly couldnt watch that press conference through to the end. Small is cringeworthy. I genuinely dont have anything against him, its just clear that the man is intent on making himself look like a prat in public...

Re: Anthony Small v Thomas McDonagh press conference
As iv boxed both guys,i will have to favour small to win by stoppage, even tho i beat small and lost to tommy,The rematch with small can be made but he thinks he to big to avenge his hiding, deep down he knows i got his number and would beat him again,i would do everyone a favour and shut his big mouth again,in quicker rounds, small as not improved as far as i have seen,he would still get smashed by sugar sweet, theres no problem with promoters so fight can be made lets do it gobby.
Re: Anthony Small v Thomas McDonagh press conference
I think Small will win on points.
Re: Anthony Small v Thomas McDonagh press conference
is that really you Bradley...are you on the come back trail?...you have to say that Small has done pretty well to take that defeat and come back strongly.sugar sweet 1 wrote:As iv boxed both guys,i will have to favour small to win by stoppage, even tho i beat small and lost to tommy,The rematch with small can be made but he thinks he to big to avenge his hiding, deep down he knows i got his number and would beat him again,i would do everyone a favour and shut his big mouth again,in quicker rounds, small as not improved as far as i have seen,he would still get smashed by sugar sweet, theres no problem with promoters so fight can be made lets do it gobby.
I'm a bit surprised Small's style has got him as far as it has tbh without more people like Bradley getting his number.
