WHEN Les Sherrington and Shannan Taylor last met on the Gold Coast there were smiles and handshakes.

Yesterday that changed to threats and angry stares. Tonight it is expected to escalate into a bloodbath.

There has been a distinct chilling in the relationship between the two boxers ahead of tonight's World Boxing Foundation's super middleweight title showdown at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Still angry at jibes from Sherrington that he was a dirty fighter, Taylor fired back.

"I saw him as a gentleman but I will do the talking tomorrow night," said the 37-year-old Taylor at the pre-fight press conference.

"I will cave your head in you cheeky little prick.

"If I fight with anger nobody can beat me but it will be controlled anger.

"I am not a dirty fighter. Never have been.

"I am coming for a war and that is what it will be. He has pissed me off with what he has said. But he will pay for it.

"I will make him pay for the disrespect he showed towards my career."

Gold Coast-based Sherrington shrugged off the Taylor verbal barrage.

"I have no regrets about what I said. I was not disrespectful ," said the chiselled 27-year-old.

"I just said I was preparing for a jailhouse brawl and that is what I am doing.

"If it comes to that I am ready to go. This is my grand final and I can't wait."

Sherrington said he did respect the the former world No.1 ranked 'Bulli Blaster'.

"Of course I do. He has great fighters on his resume," he said.

"I can't wait to have Shannan Taylor on mine. I don't think this fight will go 12 rounds but if it does I am ready.

"I am younger, bigger, stronger."

Promoter Jamie Myer is expecting about 3000 people at the convention centre.

"There is a lot of anticipation around this bout. A real make or break situation," said Myer.

"It will make Les's career if he wins and if Shannan loses, it could be the final straw that breaks him, that ends his great career."

There will be seven fights on the undercard, including the main lead-up bout between Gatton's Glen Fitzpatrick and the Gold Coast's Les Piper, who was part of The Contender Australia series

Sheringtons chin won't be able to take taylors power, it could end before round 3, but shannan has to be careful too, he is pretty cagey so he might be ok

Shannan is possible the most shot fighter ever, if Sherro doesn't finish him early it will be a very poor reflection on him...

Put an end to it Shannon. You have gone the distance with champions but this is surely the end of it. Stopped in 5 by Les Sherrington.

Les is a good fighter, but Shannon was never in it.
