Scott Quigg..Impressive??
21 years old 16-0.. fair enough most of them fighters were bums but he really stepped up in class last night against yuri voronin. who fought for the ebu title a few times. he is slightly past it at 36..but quigg dominated. his patience impressed me.. also he has good power and picked his shots really well. is he one of the brightest prospects in the country? i think so

I liked him I ust say
He punched with a lot of spite. Those body punches did not look pleasant. Right fights he could go a long way. His fought his first fighter witha winning record, I hope they stay on that path

Quigg did look good picked his shots well and looked composed for a young lad very good performance and definetly one for the future
Re: Scott Quigg..Impressive??
he looked very good last night, voronin may be old and no more than a journeyman but he's still fought in good company and it was a very impressive from quigg.

Good fighter to watch and at 21 he has time on his side. I think he has potential and with the right fights he should do very well. Another British talent to watch. We have some good youngsters comming through right now.
Re: Scott Quigg..Impressive??
that in itself doesn't mean a great deal.MrBoxingUK2 wrote:he really stepped up in class last night against yuri voronin. who fought for the ebu title a few times.
In fact it means sweet bugger all.
His actual record: http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer
To run through it- he has fought for quite a few "titles" - WBC CIS and Slovenian Boxing Bureau (CISBB) featherweight title ~ WBC CIS and Slavic Countries Featherweight Title for example.
his first EBU title challenge was against Nicky Cook- he (Yuri) had beaten no-one of note, and had recently fought and lost to Bernard Dunne.
Following his defeat to Cook he boxed once more (and lost) for an international title then was given another European title challenge, which he drew on a 3rd round technicality. He then fought for the EBU title again , and lost.
He has more recently fought and lost for the EBU-EE (European External European Union) title.
the tag "several time European title challenger" doesn't mean much, other than he is quite durable. He has beaten no-one of note at all.

Re: Scott Quigg..Impressive??
challenging for a euopea n title several times.. means he is an experienced fighter. i said it was a step up in class for quigg! did i say voronin was good?? no! you fail to mention he nearly beat bernard dunne. if your just on this thread to dismiss quigg's victory then jog on pal. it was a good win for the kid. asses his performance..not just the guy he was fightingwhicker wrote:that in itself doesn't mean a great deal.MrBoxingUK2 wrote:he really stepped up in class last night against yuri voronin. who fought for the ebu title a few times.

I honestly think Hatton Promotions have got a top prospect there!!!MrBoxingUK2 wrote:21 years old 16-0.. fair enough most of them fighters were bums but he really stepped up in class last night against yuri voronin. who fought for the ebu title a few times. he is slightly past it at 36..but quigg dominated. his patience impressed me.. also he has good power and picked his shots really well. is he one of the brightest prospects in the country? i think so
Re: Scott Quigg..Impressive??
I'm not dismissing Quigg, no- but it's useful to have some perspective about how good (or not) the opponent actually is. His last three wins, for example, were against men who had never won a bout!!!MrBoxingUK2 wrote:if your just on this thread to dismiss quigg's victory then jog on pal. it was a good win for the kid. asses his performance..not just the guy he was fighting
I'm not taking anything away from Quigg- but I do think his opponent was much over rated.
Ig Quigg is a real prospect, then they need to be lining him up against a British opponent who will really test him- certainly considering he has now had 16 fights (Rendall Monroe has only had 21!)

Re: Scott Quigg..Impressive??
If you look at the right and left hand sides of the bill last night it was as well matched as any Friday fight night has been a for a good while. Hatton Promotions have signed some good local talent and I hope they continue to match them as competitively.

Re: Scott Quigg..Impressive??
Any suggestions on opponents then Whicker, no nastiness intended. Domestically or otherwise who would you, or anybody for that matter, like to see him fight???
Re: Scott Quigg..Impressive??
This would be a good one, a good local derby. Could be for the Central area title, perhaps - http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxerdazzathtethai wrote:Any suggestions on opponents then Whicker, no nastiness intended. Re: Scott Quigg..Impressive??
a fight with mcfadyen wouldnt last two rounds as quigg would hurt him very badly.mcfadyen far to easy to hit for a sharpshooter like quigg.marsh is the fight to test quigg potential

He currently ranked 9. Booth is no1 , Dunne 2 , Martinez 3. Would Quigg beat mathhew Marsh?

Re: Scott Quigg..Impressive??
With the exception of voronin (who, as argued above by me, isn't that good) he has beaten no-one of note at all.
Not sure if he's ready for it yet- although it would be an interesting fight to see if it was made.
Marsh would be a better match up, for sure.

Re: Scott Quigg..Impressive??
Booth should fight Marsh next. Quigg should fight a Rocky Dean or Josh Wale.

Rumours are that Booth will defend against Marsh next time out.
