Froch - Kessler

Post by Grays_Dan »

Now that Kessler has lost his title, has this taken the spark of this fight for anyone?

Does anyone know anything about prices/venues or even packages for the fight as I very much want to go

Kessler threw 2(?) uppercuts and had no snap.

I think he is on the slide - inactivity!

I'd still say Kessler will take this one.

I reckon this will be fight of the tournament, Carl wins a gruelling fight by KO late on IMO. I reckon his excellent chin and fitness will be the difference between the 2

I think what this tournament has shown already - is that none of the guys taking part are anything special. Some may even struggle to call them even good..

Inactivity may well have played a part against kessler. But I do think he was over-rated by many at the start of this tournament.

They are all very good. Not being on the p4p list doesn't mean you are not good.

The fact that Kessler looked so bad against Ward adds a new dynamic to this fight, but Froch is nothing like Ward so we'll see what happens. It could be that Ward's spped and movement befuddled Kessler. Froch has neither of these attributes which should make for a more competitive fight.

Think this will be close, Froch is easier to hit than Kessler, but it's a very even physical match up.

Think i lean slightly toward Kessler, he's the better technician, and he's got better stamina and chin than Kessler.

thats not true, we saw how good kessler was v calzaghe, the reason why no one is standing head and shoulders above the rest is because the fighters are well matched, something we have been wanting to see for ages, lets not knock it.

I think Froch might pounce on him and clobber him or get clobbered. This is a 3 round fight max in my opinion

The Americans are 3 speedy fighters.

The Europeans are like snails in comparison.

Before the Ward fight I saw this as very 1 sided, Froch is nothing like Ward but his punches come from different angles that may give Kessler problems. So I now see it as more up in the air although I lean to a Kessler UD

Going back to the original question, I don't think it takes any spark out of the fight at all because Froch is still the champion, so this is a chance for Kessler to get a world title back and now, whereas before Kessler was the favourite, it has to be the other way around now.

Froch has beat similar styled boxers to Kessler and after watching the fight against Ward it looks like he's lost a bit of speed/power, also he has been cut badly so this will give Froch hope of hurting him with head shots. I thought Froch would be able to beat Kessler before the Ward fight, now he's lost badly, I think Froch will beat him by KO late on.

I'm looking forward to it, definetly more than the Dirrell fight.

I can't believe that people are suggesting that some of these 6 fighters aren't even good. They are fighting people who are of a high class and all 6 of them would beat most if not all of the other super middleweight's. OK some are ageing and some are unproven but that's the great thing about the super 6 it's got fair amount of high class crossroads fights.

I think Kessler's loss had just added further intrigue to the Froch fight. One of the great things about this tournament is that it has thrown up a number of twists and turns already. It's a breath of fresh air when there are so many fights where you essentially know the winner before the fight even starts.

I still think Kessler will catch Froch clean and with hurt him, leading to a mid round KO. However, I do give Froch more of a chance than before. .He has more fighting guts than Kessler. I didn't really like Kessler's negative attitude at times in the corner.

But kessler has had a lot of time out of the ring since then ..

Even the guy I fancy to win - Abraham - looks quite one dimensional and too economical. I seriously worry about him doing the same tactics in the USA against one of the American guys.

this will be a much better fight than either froch or kessler v the americans was. Froch will probably not be able to rely on any favours from the judges with the fight being in denmark so i see kesslers better technical ability earning him a unanimous decision. Ward was THE nightmare opponent for kessler after his inactivity and last couple of lacklustre opponents.
id still make kessler a clear favourite aswell

What is all this about Kessler being inactive he fought two months before he fought Ward and blew a fairly low quality opponent away in 4, no one said he'd lost it then. I think Froch will take him out, going back in strait lines with no head or body movement and open to shots from difficult angles he's tailor made for Carl.

I think Wards style was wrong for Kessler but Froch will be good for him he stands in front of his opponants thats were Kessler is most effective at mid range I see Kessler winning widely on points

Maybe i'm underestimating froch's toughness, but he could get stopped before round 5, it could end in round 1 if he lands that right with his feet planted on the ground, i think kessler will show his power in the one and silence the people who are saying his power is overated, cause froch ain't that hard to hit, i wouldn't rule out kessler getting stopped either because he is getting hit more now and froch is a solid puncher

Sounds like Froch, at least Kessler keeps his hands up. Froch isn't anywhere near as fast or slick as Ward is, so I think Kessler will have much more success against Froch. He hits just as hard, is probably faster, and is technically the better fighter with decent defense that is usually only penetrated by boxers with good hand speed.

Predictions of Froch blowing out opponents are starting to get old. He has gone 12 in his last three, I see the same going for this bout, unless he gets stopped earlier.

Froch hasn't gone 12 in his last three. He only went 11 3/4 in one of them  8)
