David Haye V Evander Holyfield - WBA Heavyweight title
Haye is fighting Ruiz next I know
But I'm just thinking Holyfield just dont go away - and is always forcing himself in the picture
He put up just as good performance as Haye did against Valuev
And Holyfield would want to fight Haye for the WBA title I am sure
Its a possibilty
And I think more likley than Haye facing a Klitshko soon
What do you reckon - it will or wont happen ?

I hope not. Evander is my all time favourite fighter.
I think Evander could win by left hook ko.

Evander is a tough man to put away.
Despite being a faded force - he has only been stopped twice in a stella career -
the last stoppage in 2003 - against a vastly experieced fighter in James Toney
the frist time in 1995 when bout of flu interputed his fight preparation for the Riddick Bowe fight and weakened him going into the Bowe fight
Depsite his advancing years - for Haye to stop him would be a impressive result
Evander has the experience to expose Hayes greeness in comparison to him

Yep. Agree.
Haye won`t be the hardest hitting heavy to share the ring with Evander .. but Evander will be the smartest heavy to share a ring with Haye .. even at this stage of Holyfields career.

Yep I agree
Holyfield has taken punches from
Riddick Bowe
Mike Tyson
Lennox Lewis
He fought that trio over a course of 7 fights - and only got stopped once - to Bowe - when he was weakned by flu a couple of weeks before the fight

Re: David Haye V Evander Holyfield - WBA Heavyweight title
This fight will be a farce if it happens. Holyfield is finished as a serious contender. He was badly outclassed by fat James Toney and Larry Donald, he has no buisness fighting for a world title. Losing to the worst champion in the division should not negate the fact that he is a 46 year old who hasn't beaten a top ten fighter in almost eight years.
Re: David Haye V Evander Holyfield - WBA Heavyweight title
I genuinely think that Haye would be the most explosive heavyweight Holyfield has faced, definitely more so than Lewis and Bowe. And in relation to Tyson, the version that Holyfield fought was no-way near the same explosive Tyson that existed prior to his imprisonment.tonyevs wrote: Haye won`t be the hardest hitting heavy to share the ring with Evander .. but Evander will be the smartest heavy to share a ring with Haye .. even at this stage of Holyfields career.
I take nothing away from Holyfield's achievements. A true Warrior but im convinced that Haye would severely worsen Holyfield's existing brain-damage. Time for Holyfield to definitely wrap it up.

haye was faster on the trigger and hence scored more, and had valuev wobbling at the end.FLINT ISLAND wrote:Haye is fighting Ruiz next I know

both were uneventful fights but really i think it's clear that haye did the better.
but what pisses me off is that haye was content just to negate, to coast for long periods. that he didn't unleash that right hand every time he breezed out of the corners. with booth saying, "don't get drunk on the success you are having", it was a bizarre scene, like they are in their own little bubble. and yet they calculated right, winning clearly on two cards.
haye would be far too fast for holyfield, who did barely anything vs ibragimov in that other unsuccessful recent world title challenge of his.
Re: David Haye V Evander Holyfield - WBA Heavyweight title
He was seriously rocked in the Ruiz matches.. I love Holyfield and in his prime he'd have eaten David alive and take into consideration Im a HUGE David Haye fan too.. But at this moment he'd stop Evander quite quickly too I feel.. I for 1 wouldn't wanna watch it..

haye easy at this stage
Re: David Haye V Evander Holyfield - WBA Heavyweight title
I wouldn't want to watch it, either. Thankfully when Holyfield was asked if he'd fight Haye, quite a while ago, he said he wasn't interested in fighting the young, up and coming boxers any more. Let's hope he stays true to that.Bomber 1 wrote:He was seriously rocked in the Ruiz matches.. Re: David Haye V Evander Holyfield - WBA Heavyweight title
I think the central point is that whilst a prime Holyfield could have lived wioth the power and speed of Haye's punches, the 47 year old version ain't gonna manage it.liamlion wrote:I genuinely think that Haye would be the most explosive heavyweight Holyfield has faced, definitely more so than Lewis and Bowe. You really think Haye hits harder than Lewis, Bowe or even a past prime Tyson - jog on mate.liamlion wrote:I genuinely think that Haye would be the most explosive heavyweight Holyfield has faced, definitely more so than Lewis and Bowe. Read his post. What else does 'I genuinely think that haye would be the most explosive heavyweightHolyfield has faced, definitely more so than Lewis and Bowe.'
It's right above there in the post.
What else do you construe this to mean?
Re: David Haye V Evander Holyfield - WBA Heavyweight title
It shouldn't be allowed to happen. Haye would be in a no-win situ. If he wins everyone slags him off for beating a faded version of a great fighter (ala Marciano - Louis), if he loses people will slag him off for losing to a faded version of a great fighter. Holyfield has had his day, let Haye build his own legacy - if he can
Re: David Haye V Evander Holyfield - WBA Heavyweight title
holyfield in fighting botha is clearly demonstrating how he wants to end his career decent paydays for minimal risk. A fight between haye and holy would do neither man good as david would lose credibilty for knocking out an ancient legend and holy may get seriously hurt by a very hard hitting champion.
Re: David Haye V Evander Holyfield - WBA Heavyweight title
I interpreted it the same way as you James, but if I was being kind I guess you could choose to intepret it in a different way e.g. Tyson was an explosive puncher, whereas Foreman had more ponderous, thudding shots - doesn't necessarily mean that Tyson hit harder than Foreman, just a different kind of power.jamesmcdonnell wrote:What else do you construe this to mean?
Re: David Haye V Evander Holyfield - WBA Heavyweight title
That Haye is more explosive, which does not mean that he's a harder puncher.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Yes he did.

I took it to mean that his punches are thrown explosively (i.e with more velocity) but not necessarily harder. Another heavyweight example you could use would be the Eddie Chambers v Sam Peter fight where you had an explosive but light puncher against a heavy hitting much slower puncher.
Against Holyfield a sharpshooting puncher would have a much better chance of getting the stoppage as the old man knows how to roll with a shot.
Re: David Haye V Evander Holyfield - WBA Heavyweight title
Well, Haye's not as explosive as Tyson.
