Hey, it's going to be exciting, no question! And if I was in Aus, I'd get it for sure.Liver Crusher wrote:Oliver & Joe Corona..party poopers!

A lot of people say certain fights are "meaningless" if they involve a boxer of a certain age. For me, Jones is still well inside the top 10 - if not top 5 - world rankings, and Green probably in the lower half of the top 10, so regardless of age/career stage, that makes it an important match.
Ditto the potential Jones-Hopkins rematch. Yeah, both are 40-plus, but both are also still A-list operators. I wish people would look beyond the bare numbers. That's a big fight (of course Green has plans of his own tomorrow...)

I said biggest fight in a long time, not biggest ever. And yes, for those two regardless of age that is a big fight for them.
The Stripped Jew camp had mouths, they spoke to people here. If you honestly believe that he refused to fight after getting hit in the first round you are very naive.
Roy wins on points, neither get seriously hurt.
You heard it here first folks...
he got rocked a numbner of times and didnt want to engage after that.
Just watch the fight, forget any bullsh.t that comes out of a losing camps mouth.
"Joe" doesn't want to let facts get in the way of a good story.

The writing was on the wall as this report from earlier in the day mentions:
If Roy continues to fight with his weary 40 year old legs and his jab losing it's spring, it is just hubris in taking the punters money and he'll be remembered as an all-time great who outstayed his welcome.Antonio Tarver did what few thought possible and knocked out Jones. Fighters had not come close to landing a meaningful shot on Jones but in the Mandalay Bay Casino in Las Vegas, he caught a devastating punch in the second round that sent him through the bottom rope. The aura was gone.
Four months later, Glen Johnson, an underrated Jamaican journeyman, then stopped Jones in nine rounds and the 1990s ''Fighter Of The Decade'' was advised by critics and fans alike to retire. Like so many other fighters they had seen before, it appeared time had caught up to Jones and he could not turn the tide.
And like those other fighters, Jones forged ahead - with mixed results. He has scored wins over respectable fighters but has lost twice when placed under great pressure from workers in the ring, Tarver in a rematch and Joe Calzaghe.
The Welshman successfully backed Jones into the ropes and threw like fury to outwork him a year ago. The American ran out of puff and again the retirement advice flowed.

Well ol Joe has about as much insight into the fight game as my Mrs.

Joe's "insider" contacts must have been pulling the poor fellow's leg with all the "info" they fed him.

All that stinks now is the rotting corpse of your opinion.Joe Corona wrote:So I am supposed to believe Roy Jones, a bloke who never fights out of his country, suddenly has decided to come to Australia to face a bloke who isnt in the conversation in the top echelon, but can whack a little, whilst his next fight, a old timers "superfight" is already scheduled?
And this is all above board?
The worst kept rumour in the industry is that the Green-Stripe Dews fight was not above board. What the heck can convince me this is?
This has Roy Jones by decision written all over it. Green saves face, both pocket a stack, Jones wins and fights Hopkins. Mudnine fights a couple easy fights, ie contender winner, then late next year Green and Mundine do it all over again. Another nothing fight in the world wide scheme of things.
They were mates in the US, got the deal done, now a few weeks out from the fight there is apparent "bad blood" with the most cliche of words coming out of the mouths of both.
Nothing will convince me this is a legit fight. Buy at your own risk.

Well well, another 'professional' opinion goes down like R. J. Jnr.
