This summer he pulled out of a bout with Jez Wilson for the British Masters middleweight title, yesterday he pulled out of this Saturday's meeting with Anthony Fitzgerald for the Irish supermiddleweight title (an aging lightmiddle v novice middle for the SUPERmiddleweight title!!) with a 'bad knee'
Murtagh's Facebook page reveals he has been bemoaning his 'knee' for the past week. Yet strangely his knee was fit enough for him to act as referee at two EBF unlicensed shows last weekend in Doncaster and Rotherham
Let's hope the promoter (Brian Peters I believe) sues this clown and he is never allowed to box for any title again (however spurious)

Re: Murtagh pulls out of another title bout
i don't think reffing a fight can be compared to actually competing, but surely the bigger issue is that a licensed pro shouldn't be involved in an EBF show?
Re: Murtagh pulls out of another title bout
I understand Lee's boxing off an Irish licence now.

fair enough then, so like i said don't think reffing a contest / show can be compared to actually competing.
Re: Murtagh pulls out of another title bout
If Lee is not 100 % fit to fight then he has every right to pull out does not matter if its a title fight are not.
Re: Murtagh pulls out of another title bout
Tendonitis in the knee or something apparently. Shame, I expected Fitzgerald to win but be tested.
