I took it to mean that his punches are thrown explosively (i.e with more velocity) but not necessarily harder. Another heavyweight example you could use would be the Eddie Chambers v Sam Peter fight where you had an explosive but light puncher against a heavy hitting much slower puncher.

Against Holyfield a sharpshooting puncher would have a much better chance of getting the stoppage as the old man knows how to roll with a shot.

Make that a bout of hepititis, no wonder Holyfield looked so drained tackling a guy of Bowes size & power.

The Toney 'stoppage'.... that was Don Turner throwing in towel & trying to bring the curtain down on his long career. I doubt JT would have stopped Holyfield proper.

Since his shoulder surgery he has looked a lot better v Oquendo, Savarese, Ibragimov and Valuev... Well past his best, but a past it Holyfield is still a live, dangerous fellow.
