Mitchell- The time you have to beat is 54 secs

Post by WildWaylon »

Mitchell should win this with clever boxing. I cant see Prescott nailing Mitchell in the way he did Khan, because Mitchell will not be careless and over confident as Khan was. He knows Prescott has a big punch, so he wont take chances. I am pretty certain this one will go all the way with Mitchell getting the points win. Do any of you see a KO or stoppage?

a bold claim.
personally I'm on Mitchell for this.
I think Prescott will get a huge cheer, or at least he would, were it not a pro-Khan audience.

I can see Mitchell going for the same trick twice, and if he catches Mitchell anytime in the first 3 or 4 rounds, it's all over. But I would back Mitchell to have the smarts to deal with this.

Is this the same Kevib Mitchell whos idea of defence is blocking with his head?

Who had life or death with Carl Johanssen?

Prescott via stoppage.

johaneson is a skillful pressure fighter, if he hadn't gassed he'd hve won. That was a supremely gutsy win for Mitchell. I agree he could have been more elusive though.

Oh it was a great fight indeed, I just mean he doesn't have world class defence he made it way too tough against Johanssen - Prescott is more menacing.

Prescott will hammer him! Mitchell's best win is against Carl Johanneson and look how hard that was.

Prescott is several levels above that.

I just feel Presscott hit the lottery when he nailed Amir and showed the world his trick, Kevin will be well wise to it and not go near him I think. For the first 3 rounds anyway....

But are you golng just by his fight with Khan, have you seen Prescott in any other fight? I think the KO of Khan flatters him. If Khan didn't have such a suspect chin and got blasted out of course Prescott wouldn't have looked so explosive and menacing. Im sure Mitchell can hold a shot alot better than Khan can and how will Prescott shape up as the fight goes on. I got a feeling Mitchell is going to suprise a few.

several levels above?? you mean the guy that lost a split decision to miguel vasquez who is tough but a poor boxer. bradley schooled the guy. prescott is a puncher. not a boxer. mitchell will have to be on top form to win this. i think he will

One bad outing? Are you talking about the fight against Miguel Vazquez, the fight against Humberto Toledo or the fight against Richard Abril? I can't tell, because all were bad outings.

It looks like you just need to get past the first couple of rounds against Prescott.

Hope so Tony. I just think Mitchell will not want to mix it, having more respect for Prescotts punch than Khan had. We know Prescott can be beaten by a decent boxer on points and I somehow feel Mitchell will go for the long route. His defence will have to be better than usual though.

I dont really think Prescott is all that special but he does have a massive punch as we all know. Johanessen can certainly bang as well and Mitchell proved in that fight he can definately take a punch as well as land them.

You're right he is nothing special but I have a feeling Prescott is still a level above Mitchell and the size/weight difference will play a big factor.

Prescott is a poor boxer and I'm not even sure he has world class power. Willie Limond looked like a bit of a puncher against Khan, and the rest of those who've fallen victim to the Columbian aren't exactly what one would consider luminaries of the fight game. Mitchell has a chance if he ends up being natural at the weight.

if you genuinely believe Prescott is better than Carl Johanneson....ok, not necessarily today's version then you're wide of the mark my friend, with respect.

Carl was always a quality operator. Sure they both can crack but Carl is an outright Lonsdale belt holder. Prescott caught Khan cold in the headlights and has since disappointed.

Kevin Mitchell's victory over CH was an excellent one you shouldnot be so quick to take anything away from it imo.

Mitchell late. As long as he doesn't be daft.

For all Hagler's jive talk he tends to pick an outcome quite well (when he commits an opinion). However I think Carl Johanneson is being hugely underrated in this thread, and Precott very overrated.

and in Prescott's case, based on very little evidence....

folk can't have it both ways......either Khan is crap, has a crap chin etc etc.....OR Prescott is fantastic and would blow anybody away........but you can't have it both ways.

Prescott isa tough Barrio man. He would box in front of 100,000 and not be phased AT ALL. The geezer's probly seen life and death on the streets. He will not go out easily......so I will say Mitchell, on points, or by compassionate stoppage with Prescott protesting.
