Well, it depends what they are looking for. Are they moving him towards a title chance soon?

Off the top of my head, someone like Darren Stubbs would be good- a tough fighter, prizefighter finalist, and a capable opponent.

Also, Stubbs is the central area title holder- "step one" on the title ladder, so to speak.

Local rival Carl Dilks, is also a possibility.

Or boxrec have this guy at 40, (bellew is 35) - http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer
il stop u there whicker, your all right saying this and that but you dont know any facts, for instance,

stubbs has already knocked the fight back(fact) not what iv heard an actual fact. he said "hes out my leauge", the pair have spared before and stubbs is a really nice bloke, and has had some really nice words to say about bellew,

also (fact) and common knowledge dilks has knocked a fight back with him, saying hes too big for him and hes really a s.middle, even tho 70% of his fights have been at light heavy.

plus heres another fact for you. so far 5 out the top 10 have knocked a fight back with bellew, these are not rumors these are facts, im a close friend of bellews and take a big interest in his career, im not going to say all 5 who have knocked the fight back, because its not for me to say, but just wanted to show you that its easy saying well he should fight him and him, but in truth he struggles to get opponents who will take the fight.

Indeed- I don't know the business side of it- who has and hasn't decline the fight (and what the opponent was offered, of course.)

I only offered names as a potential suggestion of what I think would be good to see.

Whether or not such bouts are practical due to whatever factors is another issue.

Even so, assuming that there wasn't a viable British opponent, surely they could have found a European with a bit better record than this guy?

fair point whicker, but lets say they got him a fighter with a good winning record but bellew blew him away early again, then people would say things like, they need to get him an opponent who will give him rounds,

his last opponent had a good winning record and out of 16 wins he had 15 k.o.s
bellew took just 90 seconds to get him out of there, at least this fighter alltho not as dangerous has been proven to be very tough and durable, and has only been stoped once, which was more than 5 years ago,

the problem is, if your looking for bellew to fight some1 who is durable and has a good winning record, them sort of fighters who have the best of both worlds are of a high class, bellew is trying to get him self ready for a title shot, and is still in the learning stage, i dont see the point in putting bellew in with no1 of high class just yet, this type of opponent (the french kid) imo is what he needs now,

and who would you say is the best in the country? if its cleverly what about when he had around the same fights as bellew and he was talking about beating the likes of c,woods and how he is the best in the country, :??

its natural for a boxer who believes in him self to say hes the best in his country, what would you prefer bellew to say after his fights, im alright but theres better fighters in my country? he believes he is the best in his weight and il tell u another thing hes not the only 1 who thinks it, lots of people rate him highly, and im sure other boxers in all weight divisions believe there the best in there country. nothing wrong in believing in your self especially if you can back it up

He looks like a prize plonker when he shouts "IM THE BEST IN THE COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!" after beating bums, as he has done. Ian Darke rightly said that was garbage when he said it. There is a difference between being confident and coming accross like a plonker mate. Take you mouth away from his balls and try to be objective here. Even Billy Bessey said he comes accross like a tit when he does it. I wouldn't mind if he was beating good fighters, but he just makes a fool of himself when he celebrates like a madman and shouts that he is the best in the country after beating a bum.

But I don't expect you to understand that.
he lets his emotions get the best of him, no doubt, but the man is happy hes winning and his emotions show us all that,

as for him saying he is the best in the country, you still havnt said who you believe is the best in the country? like i say if you think its cleverly, then he done the exact same thing after the same amount of fights. he said hes the best in the country and he would beat the likes of c, woods and d, francis, that was about 3 or 4 fights ago, what about clev then? and before you try to say yeh but hes fought good fighters, save your breath, hes fought 1 good fighter in oakey, no 1 else is worth mentioning, courtney fry is next on his record and hes an old and inactive man, he had 3 ifights in 2 years before fighting clev and his lack of reflexes proved that, and he still gave clev a good fight

As a new member, making comments like that may well get you marked down as a troll/troublemaker.

Daft and childish insults like "take your mouth away from his balls" are uncalled for, and could earn you (another?) ban.

Im often surprised at the lack of transparency in boxing. From the board down lots of things are done in house with little info given .

Nobody ever questioned or requested a copy of mnutes (or anything) of the meeting between Terry O'Connor and the board with regards to the Fury mcdermot fight, and purses arent made common knowledge, aside from prizefighter.

Hello guys, Listen I'd love another test in some form like a Velecky BUT it just wasn't possible I was told.. :( This guy is obviously getting drafted in to give me rounds, He been stopped once in 32 fights and that was in his 4th fight and has fought as high as heavyweight, I ain't saying he's good cos by the looks of his record he ain't BUT I've trained really hard for this fight and am expecting 6 hard rounds!! I can only beat what's put in front of me..

I celebrate like I do cos it's jut a natural thing not pre planned, I do it sometimes not all the time, You'll see I do it when things happen that I ain't planned for IE the knockout!! Things come out my mouth and sometimes I don't even know what they are.. :o It's just the way I am and I'll never change it nor would I want to either, If you ask any of my former England teamates they'll tell you the same thing!! Nothing to do with the level of fighter Im fighting it's just ME!! If people don't like it, Don't watch it!! I ain't forcing you to watch it!! I said I was the best after beating Phil Goodwin, The guy was as good as unbeaten so BUM is a bit of order as the lad ain't that bad a fighter.. :-?

Cramps99, If you have a problem with me then just come out and say it mate, If I don't like somebody I just come out and say it, I think Tyson Fury is an arsehole and you know what he probably thinks Im one too but the difference is we will come out and say it, You beating around the bush trying to get others to say it instead of just saying it yourself!! Billy said this and Billy said that, You wanna hear yourself mate, Pathetic if you ask me pal.

Once again I wanna say thank you to you all for the support on both sides and I hope you all enjoy the show on Saturday.. :TU:

I don't hate him mate, That's too strong a word, I just don't like how he actually is, He's great to your face and then leathers you behind your back!! I've witnesssed him do it myself, He was a top guy talking to Pricey and myself then literally walked 30ft into another room and just started to rip into him.. If he said it to his face I'd say fair play BUT that ain't how he works, Sad too cos when I spoke to him he seemed alright and down to earth then done what he done above!! he ain't 2 faced mate he has about 6 different faces.. ;;-)

Can't understand how you personally find it insulting mate, But eh who am I judge?? I've beaten people who are the best from there own country and walked out without even raising my hand, You refering to people as bums is the most insulting thing if you ask me mate, I don't think Rasani,Powers,Velecky,Goodwin and Wayne Brooks enjoy being called bums mate, They fight for a living and give it 100% everytime, I feel your the one insulting people here..

But eh once again who am I to judge?? Everyone to there own, One makes cake is another mans crap
