Barnes for me, the only doubt I have is his inactivity but if he is at his best he cruises to victory!

He's got Barrie Jones first and I think he'll take him easily enough,

This is the closest prize fighter going. So far I usually pick one, and then a "back up" and usually one of these either wins or gets to the final.

First time I picked Dolan and Kenna as the back up.

Second time - I picked Sexton and Kenna as the back up.

Third - I picked Bami with Mintor as the back up.

Fourth Murray and Renda as the back up.

Fifth - Oakey with Fry as back up.

6th - I didn't pick as I didn't know enough about many of the competitors.

7th - Francis with McKenzie as the back up.

8th - Williams with Harrison as the back up.

This time a serious case could be made I would say 6 of the 8 contenders. The two I really don't fancy are Mutley and Bami.

Cook and Rees have a style that should suit the format. Rees has shown a fantastic engine in the past and I think is fresher. Cook is going to look big at the weight and has the power.

Lynes has that piston jab, and loads of experience - can he do it in the shortened format.

Barnes has alot of ring craft and experience now. A very awkard fighter to beat on points.

Barrie Jones is better than his record suggests, brave, good chin and has youth and freshness on his side. Again, a very fit guy.

Michael Grant - has some slick skills, very good amateur and must see this as a great opportunity to kick start his career. He's young and this is make or break for him, surely.

I would love to see these 8 battle it out over 8, 10 and 12 rounds.

My pick is Lynes, my back up is Jones. But not confident at all - Rees is the other one I am thinking about picking.

I'm picking Rees. If he was more active I think he'd be too good for the competition, but he isn't so its far from a foregone conclusion. That said, he's clearly up for it, although I'm sure all the lads are. I still think the format will suit him though and rekon he'll have enough to win it.

im expecting the winner of barnes x lynes in the final and will be miles to busy for both the 3 rounds system suits me perfect if u watch all my fights they are always my best rounds in great shape and cant wait to prove alot of people wrong

He has been largly inactive since Kotelnik. I know he had a fight not so long back, but he should clearly have been more active since the Kotelnik loss. I'm not saying its been his fault and I'm not trying to rub people up the wrong way. I know he's already posted in this thread and may well read my comments at some point. That, however, does not change the fact that I wish he had been more active over the past few years. His inactivity should be factored into his chances in this competition. An active Rees would be any easy pick for me in this competition, but one easy comeback/ tune- up fight in two years is not my idea of an active fighter.
