Good article but I simply cannot get excited about this fight and that probably goes for 80% of the posters on here. I dont think it will do very good ppv numbers. Like a mug I will probably buy it though.

I love your pieces Terry,

But I feel Khan is a jerk and for that reason, when I read his diatribe and automatically-generated PR responses I can actually see right through them for what they are.

I applaud you for digging about the 'split' and loved the way some little fat guy in a suit waded in and declared that KP crisps and Warren is a joint venture.

"When you get to an elite level all boxers look to start their own promotion company." - What is he elite in? fighting bums and dross ?

"This is a vehicle for Amir, a vehicle that is recognised across the world" - oh sh*t don't let Amir drive that vehicle.

I don't think Khan's that bad really, he's a bit thick and naive and those around him seem like idiots but not him personally. Crap driver but no different to 90% of people who use a vehicle with more than 2 wheels in Britain. :D

Khan has had another car blinged up with tiger skin seats and a jazzy blue paint job.

Here it is parked outside the Wildcard:-

“Freddie thinks I’ve gone past him [Mitchell] and shouldn’t fight Prescott,” Amir said. “It is like when David Haye got beat by Carl Thompson and didn’t fight him again, but I’m different, I want to fight him just to prove a point. I think I’m a bigger name than David in Britain and people will always have a dig at me through that Prescott fight until I beat him, then his name won’t get mentioned again.”

Bigger name than David Haye

Carl Thompson did not knock out David Haye inside 60 seconds though Amir !

Neither was it watched on a very high profile Pay Per View debut by a lot of people literally falling out their chairs with laughter, rewinding your loss over and over and over on their Sky plus box.

Haye moved on because Thompson retired and also it was a 'learning fight' that he most definitely learned his lesson from. It was a rainy night at Wembley, tucked away on Sky Friday fight night watched by only hardcore boxing fans and not too many Joe Public.

It can hardly be compared to the manner and media feeding frenzy following the "world-famous" Prescott defeat.

Breidis the bin man is your nemesis and he is not small, old or ready for retiring either - so you need to fight him again.

Your right on both counts Mickey.

But Khan's destruction made front pages of the national papers.

To be fair though, Haye wasn't exactly a big name known by the nation when he got stopped whereas everyone knew who Khan was.

Exactly - and that's why he needs to rematch him.

Instead he is hiding behind the fact Haye didn't rematch Thompson as some sort of seal of approval.

When in reality their losses were completely and utterly different.

On one hand we had a relatively unknown Haye against a relatively unknown warhorse like Thompson going out at 2.30pm on a Saturday without any real fan fare. Haye went for the kill, ran out of petrol en route and conked out on the ropes.

Wheras Khan or "King Khan" was riding the crest of an olympic wave and sitting high above a huge pile of freshly ko'd bums and was then telling everyone how this 'dangerous big puncher from columbia' was a good reason that we should all flock to buy his PPV.

Little did he realise that this hand-picked unknown bum with a padded record really could bang and smoked his clogs in 59 seconds of round 1.

Fact is, nobody gives a hoot if Haye rematches Thompson - but everyone and I mean everyone wants to see Prescott vs Khan the rematch.

Even now, everyone is more interested in the Prescott v Mitchell fight, rather than the Khan v Salita main event.

But Khan is already swerving the winner of that fight, declaring that "Freddie thinks i'm past them now" which is utter toilet.

Gomez mate, you forgot to mention all the hype that went with Khan Prescott, new trainer PPV for the first time, Khan thinking he's box office etc....

You post is spot on other than that.

When Khan was at lightweight he used to say that he walked around only a couple of pounds above the limit. Now he's at light welterweight he's saying it killed him making lightweight.

It's all bollocks. Khan only ever talks bollocks. You can't believe a word he says and he shows very little wit or wisdom, if any.

His treatment and gagging of Oliver Harrison is just another shitty tick in the box.

Fact is, yes he is as thick as a betamax video recorder, but is not a 'bad lad' - just a twit.

It's all the talk, the treatment of people (blaming trainers for getting tonked), running people over and the "we are elite" talk when in reality he aint fought no fecker at all to warrant the attention.

When Ashley Theophane beat up Chop Chop Corley, did everyone go overboard saying he'd beaten a former WBC champion who'd buzzed Mayweather and Cotto in their fights ? it barely got a mention.

Yet Khan beats the weakest champion in Kotelinik, suddenly everyone is raving about it - and now there is talk of Juan Manuel Marquez, promotions companies, conquering America and running for presidency.

It's like "Steady on a sec" you beat a guy who was beaten by Souleymane M'baye, who in turn was beaten by Gavin Rees.

It's not like he halted the run of a prime Roberto Duran in his hometown in Panama, yet he's got homes in Bolton, LA and lives next door to P-Diddy.

It's like they have got planning permission to build a sky scraper out of domino's.

One slight knock (or punch) and the whole empire will come tumbling down, the men in suits, the designer coaching staff and dieticians all crushed to death amidst a pile of hype.

Bigger name than David Haye
I know its ridiculous isn't it? David Haye is the HW champion of the world, albeit a title holder, same as Khan, but you cannot get any bigger than being HW champ!

Hayes accent to the HW title was Warrenesque anyway

Polish fighter Bolin with a 'sexy' record of 43-1, Monte Barrat and then one of the weakest champs* who most people thought lost to ruiz, a 164 year old holyfield, larry donald and goodness knows who else

And Khan doesnt have to fight Prescott imo

He has to fight a 'banger' though. If he does Maidana then fans wont care about Prescott

I still care. It would be nice to see him avenge the defeat, or not, whichever way it goes.

Good work again Terry. How did you find Amir to be?

He's a nice guy IMO but I do balk at some of his comments. I read a quote today about how he deserves respect because 'winning a world title is so hard these days.' I'm not knocking his achievement but we all know it's never been easier to win a title.
