Right now everyone is buzzing over the Green result, and rightly so. Even the Americans are impressed. But they have short memories and it will only be a matter of time before they forget how everyone was raving over Jones-Lacy and the majority predicting an easy Jones win over Green. They'll say "everyone knew Green would win easily" and that Jones was a walking corpse. It always happens, and I say about British fans because it happened with Lewis-Tyson, Williams-Tyson, Calzaghe-Jones, Calzaghe-Hopkins and even Hatton-Tszyu. Especially the latter one was disappointing because Tszyu was in fantastic form, then all of a sudden Hatton beats him and Tszyu is proclaimed "shot".
They do it to other non-US boxers, too. Pac beat a "shot" De Le Hoya, an "overrated" Hatton and a "weight drained" Cotto. The Klitschkos can do no right. And so on.
This is not to detract from Green's win. I'm just saying what to expect.
For my part, of course Jones was past his best, and I don't think anyone will dispute that. BUT he DID look awesome in his last fight, and he WAS still top 10 - if not top 5 - at light-heavyweight. When you consider that alone, it is an awesome win for Danny. It is, and it will continue to be in my mind - only you mark my words, the Americans will shoot down the achievement as soon as the dust settles.
You guys are going to know how British fans feel

sad but true. While happy Danny won i do wish RJJ could have shown somee of his remaaining taleent especially to the casual observer. Not sure if hhe did under estimate GReen-perhaps Mundane told him that hhe would see his punches coming a mile away. To me the bad thing about the one that landed was how he turned hhis head as the punch was being thrown. if thats all that is left of his previous awesome elusiveness then he must retire.
Reckon the current weight green is a danger to anyone. he will never be a maaster boxer, will always be there to hit and countered BUT he is as brutal a fighter as you could see with a massive punch and i selfishly hope he has a few more fights in him and they are against some form of quaality opponent.

Yeah, the KO1 result is sensational, but it will probably turn out to be counter-productive for Green's rep, i.e. critics will see it as evidence of Jones' decline rather than Green's qualities. If it had gone on longer, as you said Jones would have shown more. I don't think he looked bad until "that" punch landed. I can't imagine a top-flight and disciplined boxer such as Jones could have deteoriated THAT much since an absolute masterclass less than four months ago, that Green simply had to turn up to win.
No, Jones was still a live opponent, although obviously a good half-decade past his best, and this result doesn't change that. Just Danny got the perfect punch at the perfect moment, and as he was the man who threw it, he should get the credit.

I've already noticed how quickly they turned on Jones, which is BS the guy is the best boxer I've seen live in my life time,.
Green deserves all the accolade's he's recieving but deep down he knows Jones is'nt the same guy he was pre 04. Still it is a massive accomplishment and he needs to go forward from this, FORGET Mundine or old man Hopkins, there's bigger fish to fry now.

i reckon Mundine hhas been forgotten-always thought when Khoder was having his chats with danny that green would say cant make SMW...Khoder would put his fingers in his ears say la la la la la for a bit then unblock his ears and say fight him at sMW Danny.repeat this 5000 times until Khoder realised hey...Danny aint gonna fight at SMW and Choc might not beat a green who is not weight draained and if Choc does get broken then I lose my cash cow. Speculattion of course but....
I dont wanna see him against Hopkins. Perhaps i hhave been too eager for cruiser clashes when LHW is probaably the weight to fight at.
