So young as well :-?

Good fighter, better than his record looks. Best memory was him taking apart an 11-0 Michael Sprott as a 4-4 trialhorse.

Get well soon.

He was only a part-time boxer early on, when he applied himself he knocked out Michael Sprott with bodyshots & banged out a decision over Mike Holden, before losing a narrow 12 rd decision to Danny Williams in a war. Good skills, anvil-chin and most importantly an amazing hairstyle.

After he lost to Danny Williams he seemed to become the guy who wasn't allowed to get the points verdict and hence the mediocre looking record. I was definitely a fan.

HOW on earth could a young man like Senior suffer a stroke??

I hope he recovers, please keep us in the loop mate?

I forgot - he got totally ripped off against Matthew Ellis - decked Ellis two or three times in an 8 round fight & still got ripped off!

hopefully its just one of those 'warning' strokes. often called a TIA. get on the mend harry, and watch the diet, the fags, the alcohol and the stress.

Worrying news. Best wishes to Harry for a speedy recovery.

A solid amatuer, decent pro and a good guy.

Jesus, when I saw the topic title I thought he was embarking on a pro boxing comeback.

I remember him very well, talented tough fighter - not given enough breaks.

Wish him all the best. Keep us updated if you can, Eric.

He's a decent chap, always teasing folk when he was at the Lynn AC. A larger than life character without a doubt. Yes, hopefully this is a warning stroke and he will take things easy from now on. I was under the impression that he got laid off from his job which he had had for a good while, and was making ends meet by being a sparring partner. He did get stitched up when fighting Ellis, and he gave Danny Williams a run for his money too back in December 1999.

Hope he gets well soon.

I remember seeing Kandelaki against Derek McCafferty, whatever happened to him?!

Get well soon Harry Senior. I seem to recall him in the "My Night" section of Boxing News recently as well.

He was sparring with Sosnowski, 1 round, when people noticed there was a problem with his right arm, it was dropping
they had to stop the sparring, Harry had to sit down, and they called an ambulance

thanks for the info eric, the fact that harry has had surgery indicates that this is worse than your normal stroke that does not require surgical intervention, harry has had a bleed caused by trauma to the head, and has obviously had some burr hole/s done, same as mark brookes etc...... and gilbert eastman too.

get well soon harry.
