Could Henry Copper have been a Light heavy champion?

cooper was never a big Heavyweight would he have been able to make the LHW limit if he really wanted to?

if so would how would he have fared against the LHW title holders of his era?

He was a fairly small heavy even in the 60s but at the same time he was pretty lean at 190 so I doubt he would have made 175lb (same day weigh-in remember). Also even if he could have, he fought during a strong era for light heavy (Moore, Tiger, Foster, Pastrano).

Henry Copper had an Iron will and nerves of Steel, he couldn't sing as he had a tin ear. His left was considered by some to be aluminating. and may well have shown his true metal at LH.

Henry had dynamite in his left hand, and he had the measure of most of the heavies in the UK and Europe at the time, and that is where the money was. The light-heavies were thin on the ground over here, but the American's were a different story. He probably prolonged his career by staying clear of them.

I think Cooper at 175 would have been very interesting. He definately would have had power in that division, as his left hook at HW was lethal anyways. I just dont know how he would have coped with the speed of a LHW who was a world class fighter---Ali cut im up rather easily, as did alot of speedy guys.
