Kevin Mitchell vs Breidis Prescott

Post by bumble »

Should be a great scrap on sat between these two. 40 ko's between them with 30 of them coming inside 3 rounds.

How do you see the outcome?

Im wondering if Prescott will be to big for Mitchell. He also gets caught a bit and Prescott obviously has some power.

if Mitchell gets out of the first few rounds relatively unscathed than I can see him outboxing Prescott who is a one trick pony, his last fightr showed that.

Obviously there is a doubt in my mind with Mitchell going up to lightweight and Prescott has got loads of power, but Mitchell just needs to box and move, he's a much classier fighter.

i've done a U-Turn on this fight.

i was previously on Mitchell to win late, I'm going to say Prescott though as he looks considerably bigger, as well as extremely confident.

Mitchell got balls made of steel but he isn't the most elusive, and it will only take one decent shot from Prescott t open the door, and I feel that he will open it somewhere around 6 or 7.

I don't think Prescott's skills are on par with Mitchell;s, but they don't need to be as Mitchell tends to sometimes hang it out to dry a little.

I have never thought that Mitchell was very impresive.
He has had rave reviews but Ive been wondering what ive been missing.
ive gone for a prescott KO. I reckon about round 4.
Mitchell strikes me as not being being physicaly the strongest either.

Looks like I am in a serious minority here. But I see Mitchell stopping Prescott late.

At one time I was quite impressed by Mitchell, thought he might be something special, then at some point during his progression it became clear that he was limited.

He's in for a very bad night against Prescott.

Is this at 135 or 140? Either way Prescott is the much bigger man and a big banger while Mitchell isnt too hard to find, this is a bad recipe for Kevin. Mitchell speed/movement may see him through here, its hard to say but I'd go with the puncher

It's at lightweight, for the WBO Inter-Continental lightweight title (which Prescott took from Khan). The winner is likely to get a shot at the WBO title.

Mitchell was hurt a few times in the Carl Johanneson fight. Im sure Prescott is a much bigger puncher than Johanneson so can def see Mitchell being hurt a few times and stopped at some point from 7 onwards. I think he could find it hard to box Prescott for 12 rounds without taking some clean shots coz Prescott is much bigger, taller and his shots are quite wild and can come from funny angles. Mitchell does tend to get into a tear up as the fight progresses as well. I hope im wrong as i would love Mitchell to win this although a Khan vs Prescott rematch is def something i wouldnt mind seeing if Prescott was to win.

Wouldn't surprise me if Warren knew something, maybe Prescott struggling with the weight and Mitchell just outworking him enough for a decision.

Its got to the point in Mitchell's career were Warren has to try something to get him onto the world scene, its sink or swim time.

even if Prescott does hit harder than Johanneson, he certainly doesn't hit "much harder" than him as you suggest. Johanneson can relly bang, which is why he walked his way to outright Lonsdale belt status, despite not necessarily being the quickest imo.

fair do's but I wasn't aware Mitchell had actually done much wrong up to now. Apart from a bit of inactivity of late. Tbh The last time I could say I knew of him boxing was Johanneson, and then there was that South American import he stopped in about 3 rounds in a mismatch. Not heard much at all. Injury I think.

Not a fan or Mitchell but dont dislike him, but i am really hopeing for a Prescott early KO.

Just like the thought of this poor south american coming over as an unknown and upsetting the odds once again.

From the looks of Prescott, I'd imagine making weight is very tough. He's a very big lightweight. He's shown no signs of weight problems before though.

I can't believe that FW would put this on unless he was 100% confident in Mitchell, unless of course Mitchell was about to leave him and he has tied Prescott down to a watertight contract

Miguel Vasquez, has lost 3 times, to Tim Bradley at Light Welterweight, and twice to a guy who is now 29-0, once on his debut and the 2nd time at 148lbs.

He swapped gyms and got his weight down, hence why he had won a few on the trot and then beat Prescott.

I'm going big on Prescott early.

It's a big risk but if Mitchell can win then it allows FW to put on Mitchell v Khan with lots of bells and whistles. Khan is talking a lot about fighting in the states after this but everyone could earn very well from Khan v Mitchell if he beats Prescott and if it's marketed well.

I think Prescott is very beatable, but worry about Mitchell's size and lack of defense. That along with his inactivity makes me think Prescott could get him out of there quickly.

Mitchell not the same weight as Khan. How will he get ranked at light welter? Also Khan has to fight Maidana next!

I've blindly gone for Mitchell by KO.

I've only seen less than a minute of Prescott in action and although he looked mightily impressive I think he may have been flattered by his opponents performance.

The first 2 points won't matter and isn't Maidana fighting Alexander?
