HOW TO BEGIN TO EXPLAIN/JUSTIFY THIS WBA RANKING:
WBA
Champion: Amir Khan
Champion: Marcos Maidaina
1. Dimitri Salita
2. Manny Pacquiao
3. Juan Diaz
4. Victor Cayo
5. Andreas Kotelnik
6. Kendall Holt
7. Mike Alvarado
8. Victor Ortiz
9. Richard Hatton
10. Sirimongkol Singwangcha
Quite simply the finest fighter in the world, not only not champion of their organisation, or even their co-champion as they like to divvy up their belt, but even RANKED BELOW DIMITRI SALITA.
Words fail me.

That's the WBA for you.
I haven't even heard of Cayo or Alvarado either.

These two are actually pretty decent what I have seen. Worst fighters than them are in various top tens. Well, think they would both smash Salita.banjo wrote:That's the WBA for you.

Having Hatton at #8 is pretty poor also.

manny-salita for WBA p4p supremacy
Re: HOW TO BEGIN TO EXPLAIN/JUSTIFY THIS WBA RANKING:
no sign of Tim Bradley on that list either who I think is the best light welter out there apart from Pacman.

Bradley won't be there cause he is a champion with one of the organisations belt.Deno1986 wrote:no sign of Tim Bradley on that list either who I think is the best light welter out there apart from Pacman.

Re: HOW TO BEGIN TO EXPLAIN/JUSTIFY THIS WBA RANKING:
Alvarado's an unbeaten Yank, shiny record, few good wins over some gatekeepers but I get the feeling he's very protected.banjo wrote:That's the WBA for you.

Cayo though, is more than handy. He's from the Dominican Republic -- I think, somewhere like that anyway -- & has beat up a few tough Mexicans (Arturo Morua, former lightweight champ Julio Diaz), fights with his hands down & switch hits a bit like Herol Graham. Very good mover, can obviously bang a bit & is tall for the weight.
Alvarado I have my doubts about but Cayo -- as Stu said -- would stand Salita on his head.

sounds like salita if you put in ukrainian-american instead of yankDatsue wrote: Alvarado's an unbeaten Yank, shiny record, few good wins over some gatekeepers but I get the feeling he's very protected.

Nah, the gatekeepers that Alvarado's beaten have at least been people I've heard of. Alvarado's beaten up a couple of former world title challengers; Salita's beaten up a couple of ex-bog cleaners from Tijuana.Adamj1987 wrote:sounds like salita if you put in ukrainian-american instead of yankDatsue wrote: Alvarado's an unbeaten Yank, shiny record, few good wins over some gatekeepers but I get the feeling he's very protected.

Who's the soft touch in those names then? the one we can fully expect to be imported to Bolton once Salita falls down?
Re: HOW TO BEGIN TO EXPLAIN/JUSTIFY THIS WBA RANKING:
Would McCloskey not be worthy of a place in the top 10 after winning the EBU strap? Im sure he will be there or there abouts when the rankings are updated at the end of the month.

Re: HOW TO BEGIN TO EXPLAIN/JUSTIFY THIS WBA RANKING:
Salita shouldn't be ranked in anyones top 20 - Boxrec's got him at 60, and that seems about right.
