Leeonzer Barber Amateur Career
Leeonzer Barber Amateur Career
He's listed as 21-5, 26 total fights at boxing-records.com for his amateur career, but I was wondering if anyone has any more info on his number of fights in the amateurs or any golden gloves/national tourneys he may have won. That site has James Toney listed as 20-2 when he is actually 31-2 (amateurs) so they may have undercredtied Barber as well in terms of total amateur fights. Any info appreciated.
Yes John, Toney's record as an amateur on boxing-records.com is 20-2, but from every other source that has mentioned his amateur record, they have either said "about 35 fights" or, on 3 different sites I found his actual record to be listed at 31-2 (so 33 fights total, which fits the description). James himself has said in interviews that hes had "about 35 fights", so the 33 listed sound exactly right to me.
What Im saying is that these other sources prove the boxing-records.com database wrong, ie boxing-records.com says Toney has had 22 fights when he has actually had 33. They are missing one third of Toney's amateur fights!
So, they credit Barber with 26 amateur fights (more than they gave Toney). Now, the main thing Im asking is if he has fought more fights than this (as that seems likely)???
But like I said, any other info appreciated!
And thanks for letting me know he fought Darin Allen, I never knew that!
PS Does anyone know how many amateur fights Anthony Hembrick had? I know he won 2 US championships on top of going to the Olympics.
