These little Islands have reached capacity & only now are our weak politicians making some attempt to curb immigration.
I have always been proud to call myself English 1st & British 2Nd but now in what was (& I know you guys over there will dispute this) the finest country in the world I am not allowed to call myself English I can only be British or a citizen of UK we have suffered political genocide a nation has been whipped off the earth without a drop of blood being shed.
When I visit USA if when filling in the green card before arriving if I write English as nationality I will be refused entry so the land of the free is even conspiring with UK to wipe us out.
My friends never lose the love for your nation it's too late for me

Tellboy . . . I have family and many friends in England (or Great Britain?) I love your country. My maternal grandmother (who raised me) was born in London in 1889.
I'm amazed that citizens of this great country, that once ruled the world, cannot refer to themselves as "English". Where do such things come from?
Why the need to change the label on something? Such foolishness is common here in the U.S. also.
I'm pretty much a mutt, English, Irish, Cherokee Indian (American Indian is no longer correct, it's "Native American" today).

Proud To Be An American . . .

This past thursday, December 3rd, Monica was sworn in as an American citizen with more than 900 other immigrants.
The ceremony was held in Montebello, at the Quiet Cannon, in the same room where boxing matches are held on occasion.

This is something my wife has waited for since arriving in this country on December 4, 1995.
Monica left Brazil 1989, full of dreams that could not be realized in her country.

She first went to Portugal, then to France, and then Holland. Learning the language of each country she lived in.
Monica's true love is language, and she has always had a goal to learn to speak as many as she can fluently.
When she arived in America, her ultimate dream, she didn't speak a word of English. Today she speaks it fluently.

When we arrived at the Quiet Cannon, Monica was nervous, she had waited her entire life for this moment.
Watching the ceremony was a great experience for me, as an American. We tend to take things for granted in this country.
This was a reality check for me. Sometimes we don't appreciate just how much we have.
On this day, more than 900 new American citizens didn't need to be reminded of how great America is.

As I watched the ceremony from the guest area, I was deeply touched to see a dozen American military personnel recieve their citezenship.
Young men and women from all over the world, already in the U.S. military, were becoming citizens. This brought a tears to my eyes.
A video was played on a large screen in the front of the auditorium, a message from President Obama, welcoming the new Americans.

Monica had tears in her eyes thruout the ceremony. She had finally achieved her ultimate goal. Monica is now a proud American.
And I am proud of her. She is quite a lady. I guess I just got lucky.

Everybody's Fine....

This is one of the best movies I have seen this year. I don't want to give anything away but I highly recommend it.

Robert De Niro, plays a father dealing with the death of his wife and his separation from his four children; two sons and two daughters, who are scattered across the country. When the movie begins he's is preparing for a holiday feast and as the time nears, one by one, he gets calls from his kids letting him know that they can't make it. Disappointed, he decides to visit his children, unannounced and that is the premise of the movie.

This is a movie every father should see, especially if you have grown children, but everyone in the family should see it. I don't think I have ever seen a movie where I identified with a character as much as I did with DeNiro's character. Jeri said to me after the movie was over "He reminds me of you" (The character, not De Niro). I saw my self in this movie.

Go see the movie.

Did anyone see the Paul Williams and Sergio Martinez fight this past Saturday? I thought it was a helluva fight. Williams won a majority decision but one of the judges must have been smoking a joint, he scored the fight 119-110. I kind of, more or less, thought Martinez should have got the win but it was one of those fights that could have gone either way. Guys like these two and fights like this make you ask, Mayweather-Pacquiao who? I'm looking forward to a rematch with these two more than I am a fight with Mayweather and Pacquiao.

I'm with you on this one Randy. Martinez caught him with some good right hands. Never seen Williams that vulnerable. They should be matched again. I don't think Pac or Mayweather want anything to do with Williams. Maybe Mosley. Who knows? Martinez may wind up with the big money if he can get Williams in the rematch.

The way they scope things now, you'll come out of it fine. When I was 18 they went in to repair the cartiledge in my knee. By the time they cut through the muscles and skin I came out the worse for it.

THE WRONG DECISION

I told you guys about the time my Dad took me to TJ to watch Ray Robinson fight. It was in the bullring. Ray was 45 years old.

Robinson, for being a Black fighter ,wasn't revered like Joe Louis or Archie Moore in Mexico. I heard stories about Louis's exhibitions with Godoy in Mexicali and Mexico City. I used to see Archie at the fights in TJ all the time. Those guys were down there as admired as Mexico's own greats. Not so with Ray Robinson. I guess the Mexicans thought he was too flashy. Maybe too cocky. Anyway that night in that bullring,he would have neaded some animal horns to get the win over Memo Ayon.

After ten rounds my dad and I thought Sugar had enough taste left in his mitts to satisfy the judges. But the decision was sour. Wasn't a major surprise. Everytime Ayon dropped a bead of sweat on Ray the aficianados screamed "ole". When the ref raised Memo's hand, the crowd was fat and happy.

I looked at Robinson. He said nothing. Didn't protest. No groaning. No shaking of the head. He just put on that white terry cloth robe and stepped out of the ring. No one said anything to him.

If the fight had been up here, Robby would have gotten the nod. But he wouldn't have shown much emotion. Not after the career he had. Hell. He was 45. He was fighting just to pay his bills. He was fighting in a bullring.

It's funny, but watching Ray Robinson put on his robe, walk across the ring, and step through the ropes...well he looked like a winner to me.
