I wont comment on the massive OJ fight. But Jesse is a favorite of mine, never seen anyone get robbed that often and be that terribly managed.

I sat next to Eddie Gregory at the Jerry Martin-Jesse Burnett fight. Gregory had fought Burnett, and he commented to me about Burnett, with considerable feeling in his voice, "He was the slickest fighter I ever fought."

Yeah he got jobbed over here against Conteh back in the 70's. That was the one armed version of Conteh to be fair, with two arms Conteh would have handled him pretty easily.

Good on the crowd, they were booing the hometown boy. I doubt John would have went from being completely dominated to winning easily, unless you meant on the cards.

I wouldn't say he was completely dominated but with the knockdowns he should have lost.

Conteh was a one armed fighter for the last 5 years of his career, as well as indisciplined outside the ring. In that time he still managed wins over Yaqui Lopez and Len Hutchins and ran Parlov and Saad very close. With a right hand and better discipline he would, in my opinion, have been the best Light Heavy in the world through the late 70's, I think he would have beaten Galindez certainly.

I think the tough hardnut big hitting Galindez would get to any Conteh eventually, exactly like Saad.

I think the Norton vrs Cobb fight was broadcast(possibly delayed tape)on the Eaton Broadcasting channel,which was an independent cable channel,which was only shown in the larger cities in the U.S.A.

Anyone know what Cobb's full contact Karate record was?
I read that after he gratuated from college in Texas and saw the movie BILLY JACK in 1974,
He traveled the country on hs motorcycle participating in Karate contests.
Which he left for pro boxing because thats were the money was.
BTW anyone know if he and Duane Bobick were training at the same time at Joe Fraziers gym in Philadelphia.

You just reminded me, one time Cobb came over to me at Frazier's gym and brought up Bobick.

He said, "Bobick is BIG!"

I was never interested in talking to him because I had too much to learn from Benton, Mouzon, Briscoe, Willie Monroe, and several old trainers nobody ever head of.

But he always came over excitedly to talk to me.
I couldn't care less about Bobick, who I could see at a glance didn't have the reflexes to compete with top level pros.

But apparently Bobick made an impression on Cobb because of his size.

Not being a Bobick fan, he was more than just a big guy.
I would imagine that Cobb would have been interested in
having a fight with Bobick...who wouldn't have...at the
time he was a decent prospect and was an Olympic
medalist...oh and he was white.

After the Larry Holmes fiasco,Cobb decided to try and win a PKA full contact Karate title.
I think at least two of his shots at that title were televised.

I believe he lost both contests on points.

Tex Cobb was on schedule to fight Tommy Morrison,.
I think for some kind of title.

BTW What were the circumsatnces that had Joe Frazier take over as Duane Bobicks fight manager around Bobick's 16th professional fight?
IMOP Duane Bobick seemed out of place there,like the cowboy dude in the original CAR WASH movie(1976).
