Mayweather v Pacquiao: who do you 'want' to win?

Post by ALI »

Not who you think will win, but who you would prefer to see win.

Personally, i'd love to see the Pac Man do a number on him. I'm sick of fighters like Mayweather who refuse to fight their biggest challengers. For the obvious talent Mayweather has, his record is embarasing. Its true fighters like Pacquiao that our sport needs, and for him to win in style would be the best victory boxing could hope for right now IMO!

I want the best man to win, but I find Pacman more exiting, and he's likely to engage in some competitive fights following this if he doesn't retire, whereas mayweather wont.

id love to see mayweather n pacman fight a classic with mayweather winning and taking on mosley , cotto & margarito afterwards , by the time there out the way therell be new kids on the block for pretty boy to fight if he wants , like maybe even kell brook and amir kahn if they can become megastars , who knows , but by that point mayweather will most likely be past it and not fight the new guys but we can hope . i just want it to be a classic , if that happens i wont be too bothered who wins .

anyone that nicknames themselves "money", for me, is not going to be my favourite. Lovely skills tho. Probably the most unbeatable fighter for the last 20 years.

I don't like what I've seen of Mayweather's personality, and Pacquiao seems like a nice guy (although he shouldn't have cheated on his wife  ).

So Pacquiao for me!

Gatti - i wont even respond to that one
Judah - comming of a loss to Baldomir? still, i'd say Judah is probably Mayweathers best win IMO, that speaks volumes!
De La Hoya - did he 'really' win this fight? there can be no doubt De La Hoya was on the slide at this point of his career, couple that with a full years inactivity going into the fight.
Hatton - forced to move up to 147lbs, a weight almost everyone agreed was to big for him. Had Gayweather beaten him at 140 he'd get more credit from me for this win, but still there were far more dangerous challengers out there for him at this time. He said he weanted Haton for the money, which is partly true IMO, but he was an excuse to avoid having to fight those 'other' big names!

I want Mayweather to win and I hope he completely shuts Pac Man out. Its not that I don't like Pacquaio - I'm a fan, I'm just a massive Mayweather fan, and this fight more then any other will cement his legacy. If he can really perform at his best and dominate Pacquiao then no one can question his credentials.

I don't think he will dominate him though. Its likely to be a fight of two halves, Pacquiao sweeping the first 4-6 rounds and Mayweather starting to figure him out, coming on down the stretch.

The names that made him though, were long before this, Hernandez, Chavez, Manfredy, Corrales, Castillo.

I want Floyd to win for a few reasons.

If he beats Pacquiao then there is no denying the man's greatness (there's no doubt about it imo anyway). It will be interesting to see what the critics say when/if he beats Manny? Floyd has said himself when he wins, people won't give him the credit he derserves because he's expected to win. He may well be right to a certain degree.

Floyd is an exceptional boxer, who always trains hard & never takes an opponent lightly. He won his first title in 1998, so to still be at the very top of the sport some 11 years after is an achievement in itself! The same applies to Pacquiao aswell.

Its not just a fight, its an event, its going to be a mega showdown between the best vs the best, so we cannot ask for any more!

Let's hope an announcement is made soon in respect of March 13th because that's juts short of three months away, which is not long at all!

If Pacman wins then we will get loto of wild swinging cavemen from MMA trying to Box.

Mayweather has the better skills.

I would prefer Pacman to win but think Floyd will take it. I won't be too disappointed with Floyd winning but I would love to see him get floored, just to tame his ego a little and to see his face. I just hope it is really competitive and the right/best man wins/gets the decision.

They are both exceptional fighters.

Pac is much better for the sport than Mayweather. He is exciting. He takes risks. He has a personality that people respect.

Floyd turns off the casual fan with his style. He is safety first in the ring and in his matchmaking. He's got a big mouth that seems to be born from a lack of confidence at some level.

I also feel that Floyd is bigger and holds all the cards. If Floyd wins it underlines the fact he's a great fighter. If Pac wins then we can say that we have witnessed a truly special fighter who ranks in the top echelon of fighters.

Mayweather may well be a greedy bastard. But he is also the best fighter of the modern era, and he will prove it. 4/6 odds are a steal.
