I think there will be work for Rogan if he wants it, but perhaps not title opportunities.

I agree with you , whilst he can still be a force domestically , hes likely to be more of a tough test for people with title aspirations rather than fighting for the titles himself , he may well be able to earn a good living from it too . i reckon if audley picks up a little momentum he might be gunning for a rematch with rogie too .

The topic is about Martin Rogan, guys (Christy a girl?).

Martin Rogan is only finished if he has lost the hunger. If he's still interested, he could have some good fights. Granted, not at the same level, but still.

Yeah, best get back to the topic - Teddy's comment "Mrboxinguk2 amd christymetcalfe1, the worst new posters on here in a long time" was uncalled for , as were some of the responces.

TBH Whicker I have never had a problem with you and think you are a good poster, that comment was not un-called for because they are bringing the quality of discussion down on her bigtime. To the mods, get rid of me or them....its up to you. This has become like ESB, nip it in the bud now or I feel lots of good posters will end up going.

I think Nicky Piper summed it up quite well. Someone who can sell big arena's - seemingly almost single handily isn't going to want to be finished now. I don't think he can afford to retire just yet and he can earn a fantastic living for a couple more years - he's got the popularity factor.

I don't want to compare him, because Rogan is better - but the fighter I compare him to like a butterbean. Its almost a novelty thing - everyone knows he's not the 2nd coming of Ali.... but he has a story (in butterbean's case his story was his weight) and alot of people want to "live the dream" with him - There are better boxers, and even better heavyweights, who will not have the career potential of Rogan.

However, I think in terms of ambition - I think its gone now, or was it there like we all believed it was. I think he will always get found wanting now...... obviously, it would appear the injury was geniune, but he did also say in that interview that boxing isn't everything, and he mentioned his kids and how they were a part of his decision to quit that fight before getting to beat up. Admirable qualities, but not something an ambitious future champion would say.

So my advice would be for him to milk the fans and the moment for all they are worth.... fight some decent, but not fantastic, opposition - get some wins.... then either retire winning or have one last go at a title - which I cannot see him winning.

So realistically who do you think should be Rogans next fight? I think Rogan would make a good bench mark for fresh heavies in Britain.

I'd like to see Fury or Chisora take on Rogan next, give the other prospects a good test.

People mention Chisora for the British Title, but he hasn't even been in for a 10 round fight yet and of late he has been pushing around 'unknowns' so I don't see how he should get the chance before taking on someone like Rogan who was don't forget in the eliminator against Sexton.

Fury needs to get his rematch on with McD and then go from there, Rogan or even Harrison would be the next logical choice if Fury can take McD for a more convincing win.

Rogan vs Chisora (Rogan wins IMO, if he turns up with full heart and hungry, but I can't see FW putting his golden boy Chisora at risk yet)
Rogan vs Fury (Fury wins decision)

Please lets see one of these soon!

How different things could be looking for him if he'd followed through when stricken Sexton spat out his gumshield. He gets a stirring come-from-behind victory that adds another chapter to his story and moves on to bigger paydays.

Funny sport, Boxing.

At least Rogan had his chance at a rematch, it was also at home in his back yard again and even had the original date postponed to make sure he was ready for it. Sexton is the better fighter and boxer, that's clear now, so it all worked out sportsman like, as I know Rogon would want it! ;)

That's not going to happen for McDermott against Fury darn it!!
