Sorry Gemmell. There has been an influx of undesirables recently and you were arguing with Banjo like you had history with him. My mistake.MrBoxingUK2 wrote:what do you mean am i a troll?? and my other account name is gemmell. i forgot the password

Earl has never came off a thrilling world title loss Mickey. He was blown out by Katsidis in 5 rounds but that was a trinket eliminator.
Earl's team walked out on him after that fight, saying he didn't have it any more and he should retire as he was badly faded and could ended up seriously injured.
He subsequently got obliterated in 1 minute by Khan in the first round. The came back and fought Castle and got obliterated in the first round again. Earl's team were exactly right about their guy.
Robin Reid had a full 12 weeks prep for the fight. He was not at his peak - but neither was Froch who'd had a cruciate ligament donor operation only 3 months previously and his bad leg was about 5" skinnier than his good leg and he'd not ran a mile for months. Reid had got himself into the mandatory position with the BBBoC so was there on merit.
How you can declare the Earl that fought Khan was a better opponent than Robin Reid as the basis of some sort of argument is shocking.
And your assessment of Barney, who'd just come off a robbery loss for the European light heavyweight title being a worse opponent than the spent Michael Gomez or Willie Limmond is way off too. For starters Barney was coming down in weight and not jumping up several divisions. Many thought he'd beaten Thomas Ulrich and already beaten Dean Francis and Tony Oakey in the previous 18 months.
Froch put off an hand operation to keep his ITV date with Barney - and Froch was dropped during the process either.
And finally you claim that Dirrell coming off a close points win against Froch "Does not put you amongst the likes of Kotelnik"
Do you know that Kotelnik "came off a close points loss" to Soulymane M'Baye ?
M'Baye is not ranked no3 at 140 - wheras Carl Froch is on Boxrec's rankings.
(M'Baye is ranked no 43)

Re: Froch discusses Khan situation and Kessler fight
I agree with most of what you say,but its all subjective.I thought the Earl fight was for the interim title, but im not sure, but his corner walked away from him AFTER the Khan fight,so its the old hindsight argument again.I didnt use this site back then, but i bet people were tipping Earl.I know what has happened to Earl since and think he shouldnt be liscensed. As for Barney,i would class him and his acheivements around the same as Limond, and below Gomez(who again,i know was past his best).I too think Dirrell looks great when he wants to,but hasnt prooved it yet.Kotelnik has performed well at world level for a while, the Mbaye result was controversial.I am only trying look at it fairly,as the two different sides have vastly different views on it when the truth is somewhere in the middle

Re: Froch discusses Khan situation and Kessler fight
Sound reasoning Gomez.
Little point in comparing opponents.
Earl looked a shell when he fought Ramirez - he looked like a guy going through the motions. The Katsidis fight lit his fire for the duration because the Aussie took it to him.
Reid was well past his best and operating on memory, whilst having an eye for alternatives in his life.
Comparable - I think not. But perhaps maybe.

Re: Froch discusses Khan situation and Kessler fight
I like both but for me Carl tells it like it is here. He's pretty witty with it and doesn't come across as bitter at all for me. And let's be honest, who could really blame him if he was? Froch-Taylor doesn't get televised until 24 hours later and Khan-Salita is PPV?? Do me a favour.
Re: Froch discusses Khan situation and Kessler fight
I actually think Carl Froch is a level-headed fella, who pretty much tells it the way it is. I really dont see anything wrong with what he has said above.
Re: Froch discusses Khan situation and Kessler fight
Interesting that he suggests the Kessler fight will now be tougher than pre-Ward. Hope he doesn't suffer from some kind of deflation that it is no longer the unification he had hoped for.
Re: Froch discusses Khan situation and Kessler fight
Carl Froch is total class
When he hangs the gloves up - which I hope won`t be for quite some time - I think he should be THE tv boxing colourman. That role is just made for him.
He tells it straight. Like or loathe what he says - he says it like he fights. It aint subtle, its in your face
After watching some of the recent big fights where our so called stars have pick-pocketed a decision. It really brings home what Froch is giving us.
Well done Carl .. keep it up.

I like Carl Froch, a fair bit more than I like Khan, but his decision over Dirrell was as much of a robbery as I can think of a Brit being on the right end of in a long time.
As for the comments, I can't really make my mind up. I like his honesty in that he says what he thinks but I can't really warm to him as a person. There's just something about him.

Carl witty?? I like him as a boxer and admire his attitude of going after the best but he really doesn't come across as the sharpest tool in the box.Matt W wrote:I like both but for me Carl tells it like it is here. I like the way Froch speaks his mind. The way he talks is like the way he fights - straight to the point and no bull. I think he' s one of those fighters - like Eubank - that people will miss when he's gone.

I don`t really see where your coming from with that??
He did over do the Calzaghe baiting previously. But I guess thats understandable to a certain extent because he was very much still over shadowed by him. But I really can`t say he comes across as a dafty. But maybe thats cos I`m comparing him to that Roland Rat sounding kid from Bolton??

Re: Froch discusses Khan situation and Kessler fight
this interview had made me like froch more, wasnt sure before...he says what he thinks...Khan just reacts to someone dissing him like a big girl, throws his toys out of the pram by saying he is going to live in the USA!! Well go then yer big lass...and take yer plastic title with yer...as Froch says, he doesnt go aroung driving lamborghini's and knocking people over...Khan is the arrogant pr@ck, not Froch...its a shame cos I used to like Khan, he used to be humble and seemed like a nice lad...it's all got to his head now and just liek Naseem Hamed, once you get to that stage you are in for a massive fall..

One of the funniest interviews I've read - at least sombody has the balls to tell the truth on 'King Khan'.
These things NEED to be said, less we want more and more fighters taking Amirs 'Path of Least Resistance'.

Re: Froch discusses Khan situation and Kessler fight
i think a lot of it might be that mick hennessey does not decide the words that come out of his fighters mouths. w@rren has controlled his fighters vocals for so long, its about time someone (who has a real fighting heart and a real belt) spoke their minds.
calzaghe was scared to say boo to a goose before he left w@rren.

he's allowed an opinion, so why hold back? seems like he isn't fussed at all this ridiculous stuff where this or that warren youth or prospect "blasts carl froch" every week.
Khans far more talented and is a much bigger name in boxing than froch period. The thing that annoys me about Froch is some of the comments made werent even his opinions they were his mates! How can you comment on khans performance in the kotelnik fight without watching it. Thats like me saying Tarantino is a crap director and pulp fiction is boring because my mate down the pub watched it and told me so.
Froch is yet to prove he is a legit world champion himself, he looked p*ss poor against dirrell, and it was a very lucky win against Taylor he was getting spanked up until the last round.
I didnt like the guy as soon as he opened his mouth and dissed calzaghe lol. Luckily i think Kessler will take his belt in the next fight so Froch will shrink into obscurity and we wont have to hear from him anymore.
Him and Tyson Fury must have gone to the school on delluded BS together.

"Path of least resistance" another khan haters nonsence, his career is at the very start its not like he's out there saying he's the best fighter in the world and smashed up world class opponents like froch. In a year or two when we he's got some title defenses under his belt then make your comments.

I saw an interview on sky the day after the salita fight where khan actually named maidana as a great fight for him to have next. If khan vacates his title to avoid a fight i'll be sitting here agreeing with the people saying he's looking for the easy route. But i very much doubt thats going to happen and if it does he needs to part company with wazza.
The only way he will vacate the title is if he get the chance to fight JMM on the undercard of the Manny v PBF fight.
