Jones training with Magee.

Post by stujones »

BBC Sport are reporting that Alan Jones is training with Eamonn Magee for his upcoming British title tilt with Scott Dann. I find this a odd pairing with Jones a quiet, country lad whereas Magee is noted for being a hard nut born and bred in Belfast.

Anyone know what Magee's gym is like, are they dillegent in their training. I have heard various "stories" in the past about Magee being dubbed "a waste of natural talent" for his occasionally less disciplined training. Is this true? Do you think this move will benefit Jones.

Alan Jones, as you know Stu, is a Welsh farmer who trains in a virtual cowshed and knows he needs to train in a proper gym to stand any kind of chance with Dann. So he contacted fellow Welsh farmer Terry Magee, who happens to be Eamonn's brother, and Terry has arranged for Jones to get some quality sparring with Eamonn (making a comeback shortly) at John Breen's gym in Belfast.
Make no mistake, Jones will benefit from the stint over there. It certainly helped Wayne Alexander prior to his fight with Takaloo.

Do you know where Terry Magee lives, Bennie?

Wasn't sure if Magee's trainer was Breen. Breen has done a good job with Alexander, certainly alot fitter than before (the fact he is making Light Middle no problems shows that).
