I wrote to you some time ago regarding boxing on the BBC you kindly responded so I felt compelled to write again over the aforementioned boxer.

Ive heard rumours that Mick Hennessey (and BBC fronted) fighter Howard Eastman's forthecoming undisputed middleweight title bout against Bernard Hopkins will not be televised on any capacity?

This is the second most prestigious weight division next to the Heavyweights, with an immense history of epic battles and even greater fighters. Not only this, but this is for the unified belts, how possibly can you justify not broadcasting this in at least some capacity, if not live.

You have covered Howards career in recent times and as an interested party I have followed it, how ironic that on the biggest night in British boxing's history for many a year and certainly Howard's biggest night, you abandon both boxer and viewer alike.

I realise there maybe monetary constraints involved here but really, this should be broadcast in some form.

I'd forget about the BEEB and start writing to Sky instead to 1) Complain about the reduction in Boxing coverage and 2) Plead that they don't do a BBC and withdraw from boxing completely once Sports Networks contract expires in June.

I don't think it'll end up on anything.

Setanta must have been hugely disappointed with the number of buys for the last Hopkins fight (not sure what they were but come on, I love Hopkins but even I gave that one a miss). Okay Eastman is sort of known in Britain but I don't see that being enough.

As far as I know Setanta have no plans to show it or any other major international fights for the time being. They may however cover events on the Irish boxing scene on their Irish sports channel this year.

I doubt Setanta will venture into Boxing again...only the die hards are interested and the casual fan will not fork out £15 even for the Roy Jones-John Ruiz history making fight because they are not well known over here. I admit i did buy the Hopkins-Hakkar bill but even they didn't get that right as they cut the undercard off and i missed Tua-Rahman II so Setanta i think will give Boxing a miss in the future.
