i think it's all gonna go tits up for the greedy hattons . why try to stop a fighter earning a living . it's alright when you have millions in the bank .

also would he have done that if he had one ????? i think not

hmm its a tough one really. Can't blame Danny for taking the fight, I'd have probably taken it for that payday! On the same token, I can't really blame Hatton promotions who signed him and presumably had their own path for him, which didnt include sending him into the lions den.

At times I have criticised Ricky the boxer (or the pr man) but as a promoter its so far so good, the shows have largely been very competitive and enjoyable so as long as it continues they can run their business as they see fit.

I just hope Danny doesnt suffer too much because he saved a show that would have otherwise been cancelled.

it doesnt seem that bad to me, seeing as Couch is employed or at least strongly aligned with the hattons....could merely be a temporary thing.

It's abit harsh of the Hattons to try and stop Butler earning a career high payday against Barker IMO and it's even harsher to sack him for it.

I thought Hatton Promotions were suppose to be boxer-friendly

Butler had nothing to lose against Barker - win, and it was a Rocky story - lose, and people will acknowledge that he took it with just hours notice. But I'm with the Hattons on this to be honest, if they are to invest time and money in his career then he should listen to what they have to say and be guided by that. I thought that Couch was somehow under the Hatton umbrella anyway.

I'm not sure if Jane is working for them or not anymore. She was promoting shows under the Hatton name in Bristol but seems to be back doing her own thing again. I could be wrong.

I agree with this, Butler just lost an English Title shot so Hatton probably had planned a way to get him back to domestic level which wasnt putting him in way out of his depth but at the same time you cant blame him for taking the fight he showed he's not afraid of a challenge and has guts

I'd trust Jane Couch personally.

besides which there's a constructive dismissal in there I'm pretty sure, only it would take ages and wouldn't be worth enough cash to bother pursuing.

Danny Butler has been a pro for 3 and a half years, had an English, then a British Title fight in his 20th and 21st fights respectively.
Perhaps he didn't want to still be waiting for his shot after 43 fights, 9 years, a bucket load of interviews, podcasts and grand proclamations like Hatton's brother.

I'm pretty sure Jane told me she'd split with then b4 Butler got the shot at Barker. think maybe Poxon's arrival meant there was less for her to do

Yeah the interesting quote in there is the "now he's lost I'm not sure they'll want to hold him," in regards to Henessey.
I wouldn't be surprised it they thought if he won then he could get a better contract elsewhere?
You can't blame the Hattons though. He took the fight and because of his loss he's obviously worth less to them than he was before, and might not be 'deserving' of the money they originally promised to him, but he wanted the title shot.

Contracts are contracts simple as that. If one of my contractors did work for someone else I would terminate our agreement also.

Look at it like this -

If you phone in sick at work and your boss then finds out you went and did a shift for a rival company would he be happy?

And by taking the shift he significantly damaged his rating

Agreed. The Hatton's had a vested interest in Butler and him just fighting whoever he wants whenever he wants is obviously not in their best interests.
