GREEN V BHOP, DARCHINYAN V DONAIRE double header

Just saw an interview with Green on Foxsports News. It was at the airport after he and Vic had arrived from the USA.
He made mention he is confident of getting Bhop in Australia after giving him an offer. He also hinted at Vic fighting on the same card and putting Australian boxing back on the world stage.
If this comes off, and Green Machine have the finances to make it happen, it would be massive.

WORLD champions Danny Green and Vic Darchinyan have outlined their bold plans for a double act next year that would become the biggest boxing promotion in Australian history.

Standing side by side at Sydney airport today, Green and Darchinyan said talks had already started about staging a mega-rich show early next year in Australia that will feature the former housemates in respective bouts.

Green, who needed just 122 seconds to flatten Roy Jones Jr earlier this month in Sydney, is keen to fight veteran American Bernard Hopkins, the man known as `The Executioner' who has already suggested to the Aussie slugger he is prepared to travel Down Under.

Darchinyan, who lived up to his big-punching reputation with a second-round knockout over Tomas Rojas on the weekend, which earned him the WBC super-flyweight title, wants a rematch with Nonito Donaire, one of only two fighters to have beaten the `Raging Bull'.

Darchinyan is contracted to Showtime, and should HBO win the rights for the fight, the double promotion will not take place. But Green, who was in Darchinyan's corner on the weekend, remained upbeat.

"It's a big chance of happening,'' Green said. "HBO and Showtime are interested in bringing the fight to Australia. Vic is a Showtime fighter, he's the only fighter in the history of Showtime who has fought four times in the one year on Showtime - it's never been done - and it shows the popularity of Vic in the States and worldwide.

"For me and Vic to fight on the same show as mates, both defending our world titles against big names, it will be massive.''

Green revealed he had spoken to former long-term middleweight world champion Hopkins on the phone three times while he was in America. "We made him an offer yesterday and I think that offer is going to be enough to entice him down under,'' he said.

"They like the offer. In boxing it's not as clear as that. There's a fair few grey areas still involved. Bernard has offers to go all over the world, he's going to take the best offer but the only thing that excites him is the cruiserweight world title he's never had.''

Green said his Jones Jr stoush generated $7 million for the NSW government, but linking with Darchinyan for a super show had the potential to generate double that amount for the host state. Sydney and Perth seem the two early favourites.
