Thanks, Ive been wanting to see this fight.
Re: Floyd Patterson vrs Pete Rademacher(1957)
Was this title fight even broadcast on television if not Theatre/closed-circuit?
Looks like almost bootleg filming from somewhere in the building to me.
That old film stock it was recorded on makes it look like its from the 1930's.
Probably old surplus Army film that was used a lot after the War.

It still amazes me how the IBC actually sanctioned this. How in the hell can a guy get ranked in the top ten, let alone get a title shot, without having a professional bout? Cus D'Amato was THE greatest hoodwinker of all time.
Re: Floyd Patterson vrs Pete Rademacher(1957)
I read in Wilt Chamberlain's 1973 autobiography, that the fight with Ali wasnt the first time
he either was offered or considered to fight for the Heavyweight championship but was proposed that
he fight Floyd Patterson for the title.
I think around 1957,when he was in between the Harlem Globetrotters and the Philadelphia Warriors.

Is it true that Rocky Marciano helped train Rademacher for this fight?
If so for how long or did he just give him some tips?

Thats a new one. Never heard that one before. I knew Marciano endorsed such fighters as George Chuvalo for a time, but never heard of him actually get in the mix of training guys.Brutu wrote:Is it true that Rocky Marciano helped train Rademacher for this fight?

There is an article dated July.14.1957 of the New York Times about it.HomicideHenry wrote:Thats a new one. Never heard that one before. So am I, so am I. Maybe the richer posters can help solve the mystery.Brutu wrote:There is an article dated July.14.1957 of the New York Times about it.HomicideHenry wrote:Thats a new one. The angle was best amateur vs. best pro. Kinda like Teofilo Stevenson fighting Muhammad Ali.HomicideHenry wrote:It still amazes me how the IBC actually sanctioned this. Re: Floyd Patterson vrs Pete Rademacher(1957)
Im guessing that Rocky Marciano's name was involved with the Patterson/Rademacher fight,
was to bring publicity to it like when George Chuvalo's manager brought in Marciano and Joe Louis
to the Chuvalo camp in 1966 when he was getting ready to fight Ali.
The impression was in the press they were giving him tips how to defeat Ali.
