It's impossible to gauge right now how he would fare as he has only had 3 heavyweight fights.

Right now Id say he doesn't beat any of the great heavyweights through history. Even if he goes on and beats both Klitschkos and Povetkin it would probably be a push to call him a great heavyweight.

I think as a former cruiser weight with only 24 fights under his belt its a little early to be talking about his chances with the guys on that list. For the record, I think any of the fighters listed would take out any of the current crop of heavyweights, Haye included.

Jack Dempsey
Joe Louis
Rocky Marciano
Archie Moore
Henry Cooper
Floyd Patterson
Ingemar Johansson
Earnie Shavers
Leon Spinks
Jerry Quarry
Zora Folley
Evander Holyfield
Michael Moorer
Dwight Muhammad Qawi
Johnny Nelson
Virgil Hill
Bob Foster
Carlos De Leon
James Toney

Fairer fights based on their prime weights; well, apart from Toney! As a wild card, how about '98 Eubank at cruiser?

At this point in time, he loses every single one of them...too un-proven. Just imagine what they would do to him Lewis, Holmes, Bowe and Louis would play with him the other would destroy him. Foreman Vs Haye :oo MURDER

I'd give Haye sniff with Bowe. Other than that, night, night.

Bowe would box his head off, his in -fighting for a big man was near un-rilvaled, the Bowe who beat Holyfield would stop Haye in about 7.

Very true. But he was rarely in that form. I'd say Haye had a slim chance of success with Bowe.

In their prime and him fighting now he would lose to all of the boxers listed. I don't think Haye is in his prime yet and is a size of a natural heavyweight in the 60's/70's, I think some fights would be closer than people are saying.

Look at how well Bruno did against Tyson and Holyfield would be more Hayes size. He would have the speed advantage on all apart from Tyson and can hit as hard or harder than most. It would be Haye's chin and stamina which would be his major downfall.

Most of these boxers dropped majorly in standard once they got to past their prime.

It's hard to make a good judgement as Haye is one of the most inactive champions ever and as we all know heavy weight boxing has changed completely, would some of these even bother fighting a freak like Valuev?

I Like Haye but I have to agree, as it stands I see him getting stopped by all of them.

If we are going to do this fairly - how about Haye vs fellow WBA titlists

Haye vs Ernie Terell

vs Jimmy Ellis
vs Mike Weaver
vs Mike Dokes
vs John Tate
vs Gerrie Coetzee
vs Greg Page
vs Tony Tubbs
vs Tim Witherspoon

etc etc yaaaaaaaaaawn

For the record: I don't care - he might have got battered off Dokes but beat Mike Weaver - all academic.

 a Haye fan by any chance

To put what Haye has done into a clearer light ... What Haye did to get the title was less than an old Holyfield did .. except Haye somehow got the verdict

Is Bowe one of the greats?

He was an excellent fighter who had the tools to be a great, but he did not achieve greatness IMO; plus, any fighter that runs away from their biggest nemesis cannot be called a great either.

We all know who & what you mean when you comment on a fighter running from his biggest nemesis. However, I think that's a bit strong. It cannot just be a case of Bowe did not fancy boxing Lewis, so Riddick is the reason it did not happen!

I'm not certain, but I think the closest Bowe-Lewis came to happening was in 1993! IMO, had the fight taken place then, Bowe would have won. At that time (1993), Bowe was much the more advanced fighter in terms of levels. Lewis not near the fighter he would improve to be years later!

Bowe-Lewis was one the biggest fights that got away!

Most fascinating cotemporary match-up for me at heavyweight would be Haye vs Povekin. As things stand, I'd favour the latter by late stoppage, but it would be a cracking fight.

Exactly. Mcguigan did it with Nelson and Hatton with Witter.

Haye is proving himself to be a very intelligent fighter - a lot better than the blood-and -uts puncher that many of us figured him to be. He seems to know his limitations and cleverly work around them, and as Clint Eastwood always said " A man's gotta know his limitations". :D
