How would you market Haye v Vitali/Vladimir Klitchko ?

Post by lefthook82 »

The Haye v Valuev fight in marketing terms was a dream come true. 7'2 russian dude against a much shorter man whose first name was David. I can imagine that was not the most difficult assignment for ther marketing team over at Sky

But how would you market Haye v either of th Klit Bros. Cant go by the giant angle. I was thinking making them Drago-esque but then how would you do that without coming across corny. What would you call the event?

The fights looks like it will happen in 2010 all things being equal. Maybe we can give the Sky team some free help

Any suggestions would be appreciated

I don't think there needs to be much marketing done. The Klits have already hyped Haye up to his current level and most boxing fans in the world want to see this fight. Both fights that Haye ducked out on against the Klits built him up. Wlad went out and cleared out the real WBA Champion so he could even get a fake title to hold vs 1 of the brothers. The foundation for success is there already as the hype has been going on for over a year even though there was no reason at all for the bum to be passed to the front of the line like he was. He was supposed to deliver the O2 but the bum could not sell any tickets. Then the bum was supposed to come to Germany but he lied about hand issues.

Now he broke his hand vs the Big Thug who outlanded him.

Now he is going to duck the Klits some more and Valuev will likely get the shot at Vitali next.

Actually, John Ruiz will more than likely whip his fake ass anyways but if not this is how it should go.

Vitali Klitschko vs David Haye.....David vs A Real Goliath....Vitali should be featured as having already slayed 1 loud mouth punk and they should use the clips vs Johnson where he is raising his hand and mocking Johnsons taunts.

They could even title it...You Can Run But Not fast enough

BTW every 1 of you douchebags who flip flopped on this running bit from Froch to Valuev are some scums. Haye was outlanded and so was Froch. You biased jokers make me want to puke! :DDD

Some of them have teeth! I will tell you this though.....Ron Collins vs Lyman Paulie was 10 times the fight that Haye running from Valuev was. I'd rather watch paint dry than that fight again. Valuev was a god damn joke and he still outlanded The Gayemaker. Hell, Holyfield was more deserving of the win than David was. The WBF title fight between Holy and Botha has exactly the same amount of World Championship significance as that WBA paper title fight.

If Haye gets past Huggerman his only chance at unification is with that WBF title and IMO he would have a serious problem getting past the old man who out performed him vs the Giant.

If Haye is as smart as he appears to be; by the way he is wrangling this division after accomplishing almost nothing at the weight, he will try to line up guys like Holyfield, Toney and maybe even Audley Harrison. All the while he will keep tormenting and occasionally ducking out of negotiations with the Klits. Sure, he was able to land 1 nice shot on Valuev and was able to shoot a few other counters while running but he wasn't eating a damn thing besides a slow jab all night and he could get out at will vs him. Both of the Klits and especially Vitali will make him pay and end his reign quickly. If he breaks a hand vs 1 of those 2 he better just quit on the stool because his life is in danger.

Whatever. People talked all kinds of trash on Vitali being fragile but these injuries of Hayes are ridiculous. Did the Klits ever get a Dr. report? I swear it was quite awhile afterwards and Wlad was On The Ropes saying he still had not received any confirmation of injury. Now this hand deal is the excuse for being pathetic enough to look like that vs the only slug of a paper champion that he could get in and out on at will. He's got genuine recent durability issues because he will beat nobody else good boxing like he won his title and especially not a Klitschko. Then any fight you sign with him is in jeopardy of him pulling out of, even when you are moving him to the front of the pack over more deserving challengers for a HW title like K2 was for him.

Barrett puts him on the canvas....he backs out of both Klits.....then he looks like utter junk vs Valuev. World Champion HW!

As far as the trash talking goes though....he fits in the Trailer Park! Perhaps 1 day he will call up Dr. Goodnight for a comeback opponent or something. Ron Collins might knock his ass out in the 1st though. :OhYes:

if he fights Vitali first, I wouldn't have a clue what to call it, maybe Sky could play on the location of the fight- war etc. 'The Battle of ...........'

if he beats Vitali and fights Wlad second it will be marketed something like 'The Unification'

@denos, I'm not an overpayed anything lol. I'd love to be though. What a cool job that would be

Like the war aspect. The War of The Roses was an ecellent gimmick and the fight wasnt ha;f bad either.

If only he was German.. but then do you really want to go down that route

With Vitali you could have some angle linking it with Lewis such as "The Succession"

For Wlad I'm a +1 for undisputed given the amount of titles up for grabs.

Haye/Wladmir Klitchko would be: Winner Takes All as it likely to we will the first undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World Since Lennox Lewis in 2003.

Haye v Vitali: Not sure actually. Need to work a good tagline for it

Xmas day sounds good. After Wlad had killed Haye's 'good friend' Audley in an exhibition.
