Kevin Mitchell - February 13th

Post by Grays_Dan »

Now that Willie Limmond has decided against fighting Kev at Wembley, who do you think will fight him? and who would you like to see fight him?

I'd like to see him fight John Murray.

i've been told the name of an opponent that Frank is said to be trying to do a deal with for Mitchell on the 13th. i shouldn't say who it is but if it comes off, it'll be an early contender for fight of the year. Very, very exciting, potentially ...

Well Mitchell is ranked No1 with WBO, so i'd guess its got to be someone in their top 10.
Maybe Barrera?

1 Kevin Mitchell (Int-Cont) GB
2 Jorge Barrios (Latino Int.) ARG
3 Ali Funeka SA
4 Anthony Peterson USA
5 Martin Honorio (NABO) MEX
6 Rolando Reyes USA
7 John Murray GB
8 Daniel Dorrego (Latino) ARG
9 Vicente Escobedo MEX
10 Marco Antonio Barrera MEX

Jorge Rodrigo Barrios would be a good one, he's only just stepped up in weight, so wouldn't be a big Lightweight, he's a name and would bring in crowd appeal with his style. Also he's ranked No2, so it could be a final eliminator
And more impotently , he's on the wrong side of 30 and beatable at this point of career.
It wouldn't be an easy night for Mitchell though.

Would love to see a local fight between Kevin Mitchell and Nicky Cook. Think Mitchell would be to much for Cook now though so more even fight few years ago but Cook has declined now and Mitchell has improved.

Would have been more entertaining say two years back (although I'm sure Mitchell still would have won), but now Mitchell, going by his last fight has moved up a level and Cook has moved down. Mitchell will be to good for Cook I feel.

Was at the Mitchell fight in Newcastle and was impressed with him, although Prescott was terrible!! Would love to see him take on Murray or even Micheal Katsidis... Amit it would be very tough but you know what they say, to be the best you have to beat the best

Prescott looked terrible because of the way Mitchell boxed and stuck to his game plan. Your going to look bad if your able to be picked off, miss, get hit and get frustrated. Prescott didn't look terrible againts Khan and previous fights I've seen of him.

Thing is but were not talking about other fights, but hey if u want too, in his last 3 fights hes lost 2 and the third win by dq in the last round when he was behind... so apart from amir khan tell me who/when he impressed you, cause looking at his record its hard to find a decent boxer he beat? the only fighter he boxed with over 20 wins was Jorge Luis Noriega Medrano who has 19 defeats... And if u want me to keep going his first 13 fights the guys he fought Bar Medrano had only win 11 fights between them.. and you where impressed.

So Khan is a very poor World Champ then isn't he, After all, Mitchell didn't allow Prescott to do what he did to Khan. Mitchell boxed brilliantly to 'prove' he's not a hyped up machine....Showed he can box and under control, showed good defence with it aswell. That to me and I'm sure many shows that he's not just a 'hyped up machine'

Well Cook might want to rethink what he 'Really wants' because Mitchell will be way to much for him now, Cook has declined and Mitchell has improved under Jimmy Tibbs. Mitchell would always have beat Cook but he would with more ease now. Cook never held the best shot and his punch resistance I believe has slipped even more, Mitchell on the other hand has shown he can withold heavy shots in his two fights with Johanson and Prescott. All due respect to Cook but those two would have stopped him.
