LENNOX LEWIS W12 ZELJKO MAVROVIC (anyone tape it?)

Post by overhand_right »

For some bizarre rreason i stopped following the game in 1998.

Does anybody have a mint copy of Lewis/Mavrovic (i.e. they taped it themselves) as i have seen it and thouight it was a lively scrap.

Id be willing to trade/pay if someone has a legit original gen copy and doesnt use an ancient VCR dragged from a mound of Woolty Mammoth feces to record with.

A pertinent question, that was possibly the worst performance of Lewis' career. Whatever happened to Mavrovic, he looked a decent fighter, I don't think he ever fought again, his height certainly gave Lewis some problems.

Mavrovic had some sort of muscle wasting disease, he is weighing about 170lbs these days - in good health now though I think.

Why exactly was it such a bad performance? Yes Mavrovic had some (brief) moments, but was otherwise pummeled from pillar to post for 12 rds.

Lewis won a lopsided decision. Not everybody can be blasted out in two rds and if Mavrovic hadnt got sick and fights with Hasim Rahman and Mike Tyson had come off he wouldve given them a very hard night, possibly won.

I take it not one of you people on the forum have a orig gen copy of this fight....?

That's pretty shocking - was he kickboxing then?

Seem to remember he had a mohican didn't he?

BTW - the guy who has been taping fights longest in the UK, by a country mile, is Brian Fletcher of Leeds.

I used to trade 1000's of fights with him, and he started taping himself back in the early 80's - orignal copies of Holmes/Cooney etc.

Porbably has one of the largest collections in the world.

It was just incredibly boring. It's not like the Tua fight where there was the possibility at any moment that Tua might land an explosive hook and turn the fight, it was just a long, drawn out, one-sided and frustrating fight. Lewis sleepwalked through the fight.

Darkie Smith used to train Mavrovic. After the Lewis fight he went on to a years national service, don't think he ever returned after that. Compared to todays crop I think he could have done ok.

well, my guess is that he CUT his hair, you know, i was born bald, then grew hair, all the way down to my shoulders at one point, now i have a skinhead, remarkable!

He has a muscle wasting disease according to someone here. He looks fornicating emaciated there, look at how his suit is hanging off his shoulders.

there he is in his prime, hard to believe it's the same guy.
