Matthew Hall Hall seeking Small slice of redemption
http://www.boxingnewsonline.net/BN08/detail.asp?id=1402
Seems Matthew Hall has a new trainer and wants to revenge his loss to Small.
Would a new trainer and rematch give a different result or his Small just too damn good for the Manchester lad

Re: Matthew Hall Hall seeking Small slice of redemption
Small won't give Hall the oppertunity.
Apart from Promotional difficulties I think Small will realise he's got past a dangerous opponent and won't be going through it again.
Hall will have to find a way of getting himself into the mandatory position.

Re: Matthew Hall Hall seeking Small slice of redemption
"Farnell, a former WBU champion himself, admitted he was shocked with Hall’s early training sessions and knew changes were needed for Hall to get back on track. “The first week Matthew came in, I watched him and couldn’t believe he had got to the level he had,” explained Farnell.
“It was all done by natural power, strength and aggression but he’s coming on leaps and bounds now. All he did previously was look for single shots. Fighters aren’t going to stand there and let a guy like Matthew tee off, so we have quickened his foot speed and he is throwing faster combinations.
“Before he used to give people time to breathe looking for the one big punch, all they had to do was move, but now he is using straight shots, jabs and the results will shock people.
“You can’t change his style, it just needed some fine-tuning. He needs to throw more combinations rather than single power shots. Matthew can feel his opponent out and then let the big shot go.”
I have to say I totally disagree with that statement from Arnie and feel he said to maybe wind Brian Hughes up. The trainers and knowledge down the CollyHurst is way better than Arnies set-up FACT.

Why do you say that?avril wrote:teddy007 wrote:"

Farnell has proved nothing as a trainer other than that he can train naturally gifted fighters to beat bums
He is a relatively new trainer and is not doing too bad in my book.

Having conducted the interview I can say that Arnie never mentioned Brian Hughes. I spoke with him in great detail about Matthew and the improvements he felt they where making.teddy007 wrote:I have to say I totally disagree with that statement from Arnie and feel he said to maybe wind Brian Hughes up. Arnie was giving his honest opinion on what he witnessed with Matthew and both fighter and trainer know that only Matthews perfomance will answer the questions.
Matthew himself thanked Brian for all he had done for him and siad he felt that he needed a change. After all his performance against Small didn't go in favour of him. Sometimes a fresh start can reinvent a fighters career and come February we should see if the change in direction has worked
Re: Matthew Hall Hall seeking Small slice of redemption
I know Matthew didn't say anything bad and loves Hughes and a change is good but when Arnie was speaking you needed to read between the lines as I know for a fact there is bad feelings between Farnell and the Collyhurst camp.lacollier883 wrote:Having conducted the interview I can say that Arnie never mentioned Brian Hughes. This has a familiar air to it.
"If [he] doesn't win a world title..then I'm not the trainer I think I am."

Re: Matthew Hall Hall seeking Small slice of redemption
Styles make fights and Hall's style is wrong for Small he is far too one dimensional I really think Small would beat him more convincinally the 2nd time around
Re: Matthew Hall Hall seeking Small slice of redemption
The thing that lingers in my mind, was not the result..
It was the pea-brained Hall fans who kicked off in the crowd.
A forum member i know was punched in the nose, breaking it - and if that wasn't bad enough they punched his wife too. It was her first boxing event she'd attended. She was trying to drag off some guys setting about her partner and got clobbered.
Not good![[icon_shame.gif] :shame:](./images/smilies/icon_shame.gif)

Re: Matthew Hall Hall seeking Small slice of redemption
Arnie, stop having snide digs then because you have a long way to go until you have achieved anywhere near what Brian Hughes has and lets be honest you have lost every meaningfull fight you have had as a trainer.

Not this time mate- GOmez is legit, and has been here for a long time, and he is making a valid point.Chambers2 wrote:

There was serious trouble in the crowd after the Hall fight, exactly as Gomez has said. Whilst the boxer himself can't be blamed for this, of course, it certainly puts me off going to any of his fights.
....
As for a Small-Hall rematch - why should they? Hall , has he fought since? All other issues aside, he was solidly beaten in that fight.
