ammann kayoed
Daniel Ammann was stopped in two rounds by Alexander Alexeev in Germany. Good on Daniel for stepping up but when you look at Alexeev's record this one always looked a bridge too far.
Re: ammann kayoed
Alexander alexeev is Russian but only has fights in Germany
Re: ammann kayoed
I think this fight might of been taken on short notice. Unlucky for Ammann.
Re: ammann kayoed
good to see he has the balls to test himself.
didn't pay off, but should make him more determined hopefully.

I agree with all the comments, Good on him for stepping up and testing himself. Hopefully he got paid well and can learn from the loss.
Re: ammann kayoed
No shame at all. Amman and his trainer are always keen to test themselves, no padding of records. Good stuff and hopefully he bounces back!

Re: ammann kayoed
Myself and Bostic are in the same boat as Amman and his trainer, had to/wanted to step up, Masternak was the better fighter on the night in Poland and deserved to win the WBC Youth Cruiser strap, lessons have been learned and we move on. Cruiserweight is not Bostics natural weight class so thats most likely the last we'll see of him at that weight.
Re: ammann kayoed
Bostic V Amman be a great bout..... if Bostic is looking to be a more natural Cruiser weight in time to come?
Re: ammann kayoed
Your boy Max went 10 rounds with Alexeev didnt he?N2 Shape wrote:Myself and Bostic are in the same boat as Amman and his trainer, had to/wanted to step up, Masternak was the better fighter on the night in Poland and deserved to win the WBC Youth Cruiser strap, lessons have been learned and we move on. Yes Max went 10 with Alexeev, but he should be at light-heavy himself also. I have concerns over his desire to fight at present, he put up a very lacklusture performance in losing to Mensah on the Tua/Cameron card (even though i thought he won, a Draw at worse) Max has slipt to far into a sparring partners mentality.
Bostic VS Ammann would be a decent fight, as of now I feel its best to move Bostic back down to light-heavy hes more comfortable there and in my mind more effective. Cruiserweight maybe something to look at again in the future or even a catchweight.

For those who haven't seen this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXDKK-uje1I.
Ammann was made to look 2nd rate, Aleekev's foot work is amazing, he glides across the canvass as he picks Ammanns defence to bits.
If Vea had trouble with Ammann(who is very easily hit) then he needs some serious step up fights before venturing over to europe/America.
I think Forsyth would have stopped Ammann had that fight gone ahead.
Thoughts?

Thanks for posting the link.
Daniel was in trouble within 90 seconds and barely landed a hit on the very skilled Aleekev, whose all round skills and savage left caused havoc on Daniel.
Kudos for Daniel in having a go overseas but it was a mismatch in the end, which proves again that many Australian boxers, with padded resumes get found out in the cruellest way overseas, eg. Willie Kickett, Jamie Pittman, Hoppa, Kerry Foley.

Re: ammann kayoed
I honestly thought Daniel had tested himself before this fight, the only other 2 cruisers in this region of the world that he hadn't fought was Forsyth and Pitt and thats because they're new to the pro scene.
He has wins over Vea(very early in Veas career his 3rd fight) Withers(DQ is still a win) and Tuasa(Heart isn't in it anymore) as well as wins over McCracken and Azzouri.
Obviously the cruiser division over here isn't as strong as i once thought.
Ammann isn't really a power puncher, maybe some serious weight training to get a bit of muscle on his frame.
He is young, there is time to improve and a career still awaits. All the best to Ammann in the future.

belltane,
in fairness to some of the aussies that did venture overseas and lost, they fought credible opponents, not some cab driver bum. also foley hadn't fought anyone with a pulse before going o/s.

It is a competitive division with some great domestic match ups on offer, unfortunately this doesn't mean they're all world beaters...Hounddawg wrote:Obviously the cruiser division over here isn't as strong as i once thought.

Re: ammann kayoed
The only REAL diference between Manny Paquiao and Godwin Gretch is mindset. Amann has my respect, he has faught some dangerous opponents and shown disdain for the "perfect" record, if more Aussie boxers showed the same sense of adventure then local boxing would be in much better shape (put Paz Viejo up against a simarly skilled opponent and be surprised by the result). If you take fights on only if they're odds on in your favour, then you aren't a fighter, you are a thug/bully (weak p#@*k).
Good on you Daniel, very Australian.
