well, haye looked ok, paced himself well against a bloated opponent, he'll be stepping up after that

that Anthony Small guy looks exciting, could be a good prospect, he may turn into a poor mans floyd mayweather. needs to tighten up his defence and a bit wild but he looks talented, could improve.

David Hayes defence still looks pretty weak, he keeps his hands too low and theres hardly any head movement, I dont think he's ready for a shot at the European title just yet.

Mark my words, Anthony Small is heading for disaster.

First thing I thought when I saw Small was "This guy wants to be Naz" second thing I thought was "this guy's defense is as open as Naz's used to look"

As to Haye's more measured than usual performance, I think it's a step in the right direction but he looked hittable still, I think he would benefit from a trainer with a more orthodox philosophy.

Why does Steve Bunce always add a stone onto heavyweights? "Let's get this right, he's in with a guy who's 17 and a half stone." No he's not, Steve!

I don't think Anthony Small is anything close to as good (even potentially) as he thinks he is.

TONIGHTS BBC EFFORT - BBC WALES DIDN'T SHOW THE FIGHT. IT WAS ADVERTISED AT 12.35 TONIGHT WHEN I LEFT FOR WORK AT 2, BUT I GOT BACK TO FIND SNOOKER ON.

E-MAIL IS BEING SENT AS I SPEAK, I COULD HAVE TAPED IT FROM BBC ENGLAND, BUT I THOUGHT I WOULD GET BOTH BILLS SORTED - BASTARD.

Small does clearly wanna be Naz. He even did that little shoulder role that Naz used to do when he got hit (he did it against Kelly and Badilo in the 1st I think.)

When I heard Haye talking about a European shot my head went into my hands. If that fight is made I will be amazed. While Haye can win it, it shows that maybe he has no intentions of fighting Hobson. I mean Haye with the European and Hobson with the Brit and Commonwealth you would think the fight would be easily made but I think the 2 will give each other the body swerve.

Anthony Small didn't impress me that much, he seemed more interested in being a Mayweather/Hamed hybrid than concentrating on the job in hand.

Unless he sorts out his defence he will get a beating soon. Having bags of confidence is all very well but if he fights like that in every fight he is asking for trouble. He already showed last night a lot of bad habits, which he needs to sort out soon before its too late.

Small looks like he has talent, but he needs to decide which is more important to him, being a showman or being a Boxer.

Small was way too open defensively. He does have talent but needs to tighten up a lot!

ridiculous performance, he needs to cut that shit out, I guess it's ok against the patsy he was facing, but even a faded journeyman with a bit of bang will put him flat on his ass. Hamed never boxed as sloppily as that when he was young. good prospect, but those habits want to be tightened up early, it's ok to showboat for points in a fight, but not the entire fight. still I'm sure the crowd liked it.

I thought David Hayes performance was ok, workmanlike some may say. He did not come out guns blazing and try and blast his opponent away, he took his time to pick his opponents apart. He also seems keen to keep active.

But on the downside, half way through the 3rd round he started to drop his left hand again, this will get him into trouble again and soon. Also I completely disagree with the BBC commontators, Haye was not in with a genuine Heavyweight at all. He was in with a faded, overweight and undertrained Cruiserweight. Delaney is a tough experienced fighter but is obviously at the end of his career.

Anthony boxed for the Fitzroy Lodge and beat some good names. He properly knocked out unbeaten pro Elvis M and really deserved to get the verdict against Sam Webb in last year's SE London Divs (it should have been stopped anyway given the state of Webb's mouth, I've never seen an Amateur continue with an injury like that.)

Needless to say the judges/ABA didn't like his style so he never got the breaks.

I have sparred against him a good number of times, and he's very awkward and hard to hit. HE can also take a shot if you can actually land one on him.

Anthony is a professional - it is his job to raise his profile and sell tickets and put himself in a position to get good paydays. I mean how many 3 bout pros are shown on the BBC? And he got the last word on the programme when he was singing James Brown - he is doing the right thing, making himself known, being entertaining.

I also went to his debut and people were speaking about him after his performance in the bar. People loved watching him.

He is a very likeable young man, he isn't spiteful/arrogant like Naz and he does everything with a sense of humour, not disrespectfully.

Must admit I quite enjoyed watching Small, definately a breathe of fresh air with a twist of humour thrown in.

There is a thin line between showboating and being disrespectful in boxing but I feel that small is one of the few who can get away with it.

I was pissing myself at the end with the james Brown dance, Even my missus asked who he was, so he must be doing somthing right.

Most of the critisism on the board is down to frustration because of terrible matchmaking, like Enzo's fight last night. 95% of the boxing on Sky are total mismatches. It pisses you off after a while. Many of us believe guys like Enzo, Hatton and Calzaghe could be so much more but are taking the easy option and defending meaningless "titles" at home against no name opponents while constantly going on about going to America and fighting the best when they have zero intention of ever doing so.

Smalls has the right character to earn a few fans thats for sure. bad defence but quite an exciting prospect all the same.

Couldnt believe the shape delaney was in. i last seen him box against Rothmann when he was in good shape so i was very shocked with his flabby waist line. good right hand from haye though. european seems too far right now, why doesnt haye realise he has time on his hands to develop. Rushing into more fights like the Thomson one will only destroy a top talent

I have NEVER called Hatton a coward or any fighter for that matter, check my posts I am a Hatton fan and I also give him a good chance against Tzsyu.

Enzo, my last post on Enzo which was yesterday states how I was slowly warming to him and that his performance on Friday impressed me (as much as it could given the opposistion)

Calzaghe, I'm not the fan I once was but that is just down to my fustration with the opponents he has been fighting over the last few years as I believe he has the ability to mix it with any 168lbs & 175lbs fighter in the world and beat 95& of them on a given night

I am sure you were just making a general point E, but I just wanted to put my point foreward.

As for Small I take on board what you say bur still stand by my original post, the guy obviously has ability, but his defence looked very open which will cause him problems as his career progresses. I just felt that from watching him fight on Friday he seemed more interested in being a showman than a fighter, which (if) true will lead to trouble. I was a Naz fan so I am not adverse to flashy styles etc.
