Mayweather vs Pacquiao - Who Wins??

Post by Cossack »

I'm sick to death of all the drug talk...

Let's have the opinions of the boxrec faithful on this fight. There are a lot of quality posters on this forum and I an genuinely interested to hear who the majority are favouring.

Personally, I think Floyd wins this fight. Pac is the same size as JMM and we all saw the size difference in the ring when Floyd was fighting JMM. I don't think pac has fought someone like Floyd and I can see him getting picked off and losing a wide UD. His courage might see him KO'd. I think the Mayweather defence will be telling.

Flloyd has the discipline to stick behind that great jab of his.
Keeps Manny off balance and picks him off as Manny starts to lunge.
Mayweather UPTS or late.

Having said that i've gone against the Pac-Man in each of his last three fights so he probably wins again!!

PBF wins - easy fight.

UD12 or possible late stoppage.

Mayweather UD

Mayweather would take advantage when Pacquiao comes in and squares up which he does when he throws, Mayweather will not let Pacquiao set his feet as he will keep moving. I see Mayweather sticking and moving pumping his jab and left hook into Pac's face not letting him set himself.

No idea, I just hope the fight happens.

People have gone against Pac man a lot in his recent fights and he has dominated every one, so I dont think its as clean cut as some think.

Me too ..

So why change .. I see Floyd outboxing him as Marquez and Morales have done previously ... not sure Floyd would be brave enough to go for the stoppage.
Mayweather could probably make it look easy also ...

I think Floyd wins this but not as easy as some are predicting....

Floyd KO round about 8 - But after Pacman has shaken him into coming out & fighting

Hi gents,

I think most of us will say the same thing: we've all thought Pacman was trying to climb a mountain that was to high and he just keeps coming up trumps.... we feel silly to pick against him... most of us feel he would beat the 11st champs (even though he said he won't go to 11st) and most of us feel he has the beating of every single 10st or 10st 7lbs fighter on the planet:

except for Floyd Mayweather.

I too, think Mayweather will win on points - in what will probably be something like the Hatton fight - where we see Floyd HAVE to prove something, and prove it, he will.

best wishes

60-40 in Mayweather's favour. He is a superb boxer who remains calm and has an exceptional defence counter mechanism, Manny would get picked coming in and going out however I would never write Manny off and he always has a puncher's chance especially as he throws bunches and from weird angles and a lot would depend on Mayweather's handling of Manny's power when Manny does connect.. Before the Cotto fight I would have said 85-15 in Mayweather's favour but as soon as I saw Manny land and Cotto touching gloves with the canvas I was off the sofa shouting godamn unbelievable or words to that effect !!! Of course Manny would also have a plan for Mayweather's exceptional defence and countering and Roach is a master in getting his boxers to execute their plans.

I`m a firm believer in the fighter makes the trainer .. rather than the trainer making the fighter.

Of course a trainer can and will take a guy he trains so far .. then there comes a time when its down to the fighter.

I feel too much has been placed on a trainers shoulders. Roach isn`t a magic man who simply by telling a guy what to do has the beating of the other guy .. ODLH lost against Mayweather under Roach.

I just think styles making fights. Mayweather is the type of opponent who will always give Manny nightmares .. Manny thrives on the guys who take it to him .. Floyd will not.

Pacman can be reckless going in, Mayweather would just dance circles and pick him of with the jab. But; if Manny gets FM on the ropes he'll blow him away. I'd like Manny to win just to see Floyd cry about the loss on his record.

I think that Manny could win this on points with greater workrate and pressure. Castillo almost beat Mayweather doing the same thing. Mayweather has improved since then, but he's also a lot less aggressive than he used to be.

I don't see Mayweather being able to pick and poke against Manny, Pacman is quick enough to land those shots, and Floyd will lose the rounds fighting like that.

Floyd is going to have to fight a different fight than we've seen from him in many years.

People also said that Hattons best chance was to get Floyd onto the ropes and work him over .. Floyd countered that by walking Hatton onto the tip of his elbow each time he tried .. :(

As previously said - the Pacman has looked excellent against guys taking it to him, where his extra speed and new found big punching power has reeked havoc ... Floyd will have Manny coming onto him.

Yes floyds use of the elbow was really flagrant during that fight, not that the ref took a blind bit of notice.

heh, even as someone who desperately wanted hatton to win that night, i had to give Floyd grudging respect for his brains there

i mean come on, if he hadn't introduced hatton to his elbow on the inside, he'd have been hit with all kinds of WWE moves shortly after

if you're in floyd's position, why on earth would you want to let Hatton impose his own- often illegal- gameplan on you?

to me floyd was just doing before he got done there.

Watch the 2 MArquez fights, thats the blueprint, some people say Pacquaio has improved but the Cotto fight showed he is still there to be countered, I think going up in weight helped him as he may have been a bit drained at 126-130, he also probably has better supplements. But he is still there to be countered

i wouldn't say the JMM fights are the only blueprint

Morales in the first fight seemed to be working on a half-counterpunching, half back-him-up-behind-the-jab/right hand, sort of gameplan.

i can see floyd trying to walk him down some, as he did with Judah
