With a 50's ref, I would not be surprised if the unthinkable happens --- Marciano (eventually) takes a ten-count.

Whatever the case, it's a whole lotta hurtin', a whole lotta knockdowns, & a whole freeway of one-way traffic. Foreman smashes the holy fvck out of him.

Foreman is the worst of ALL Heavyweights for Marciani to fight...

I imagine Rocky getting smashed the first 6 rounds...

If he can survive that, then he might be open to wear George down. :TU:

Three votes for Marciano --- no one willing to put themselves on the line by arguing for him, though.

LOL.

As I said in another thread I am astounded by the disrespect for Big George on this board.

Rocky would be giving up approximately fifty pounds of weight, seven inhes of height, and over a foot of reach. This is George Foreman we're talking about, not some club fighter or Primo Carnera.

It's 3-3 in the voting, but of course, no one will step forward & embarrass themselves by making a case

I did the same thing in the Liston-Foreman Poll, mistakenly putting down a vote for Foreman. They really ought to have an option to reverse that.

Marciano was tough and might score a flash knockdown, but its too much of a task for him. Silly fight really in terms of size, how about Marciano v Holyfield or Haye at 190, or Foreman v Lewis at 225 - 235?

There are folks who believe Matciano would be a lead pipe cinch against Ali, Lewis, Foreman, Frazier, et cetera.

Pretty disrespectful to put Marciano in there with Haye, IMO.

He deserves better.

I'd pick Foreman since he was a ferocious early starter and Rocky like Frazier started slow.

However, to dismiss Rocky's chances soley on size is ridiculous. Marciano's defense was much better than given credit for, and he wasn't some Gatti face-first slugger some revisionists like to portray him as.

I recall Sandy Saddler once picking Marciano to win over Foreman. IMO, Marciano's style was all wrong for George Foreman---for Marciano to win, he'd have to revert back to the style he was using against Joe Louis, less bobbing and weaving, was more stand up---he'd have to turn the fight into a brawl for all, like Lyle/Foreman to win. I'd favor Foreman, but a Marciano victory isnt out of the relm of possibility; with guys like Frazier, Dempsey and Marciano you had to practically kill them to keep them off you.

Joe Louis was a counter puncher/boxer and was way past his prime. Prime Foreman was an unapologetic slugger I give Marciano as much credit for knocking out Joe Louis as I give Mike Tyson for knocking out Larry Holmes in more spetacular fashion at about the same time in Larry Homes' career.

Not only was George a big puncher but he was so powerful. Give him six months in a gym and he's benching > five hundred pounds. Remember how he pushed off Frazier wheneber Frazier tried to get inside. Imagine him pushing Rocky.

George is five to seven inches taller with fifteen more inches of reach. Rocky is literally going to have to leap to hit him in the head; leaving him most vulnerable.

Terrible match up.
