Best of a nation: Canada
Who is the best ever, pound-for-pound?
Re: Best of a nation: Canada
You know your country sucks at boxing when Steve Molitor and Trevor Berbick are mentioned in all time pound for pound lists.
From what I have read about the man I would have to say Langford. It seems as if he was something else, knocking out decent fighters almost twice his size. He was ranked second by the ring in their Greatest 100 Punchers of All Time issue.

It's a no brainer for Langford imo, though a case could be made for McClarnin. As for Molitor; Dixson, Broulliard, Chuvalo, Cleroux, Ruddock & Arthur King are just a few off the top of my head and there certainly is many more that were better.

For most countries, it's a difficult selection. Not so, in Canada's case.
Langford, beyond question. Hell, he's just about better than any American, Englishman, Mexican or Puerto Rican who ever lived, as well.

A bit like Lennox, except that he fought for Jamaica in the Olympics rather than Canada. Then he moved to Canada to fight as a pro.Adamj1987 wrote:i thought berbick was jamaican

Ok, who chose Berbick?
Re: Best of a nation: Canada
No Durelle, Davey Hilton jr? Surely better than Molitor and Berbick...
Langford is the obvious answer.

It is a poll about fighter who were born in canada... or immigrants who now reside in canada counts cuz there's no Lucian Bute, no Otis Grant (Living in Canada but were born somewhere else) though Jean Pascal is there and he's not even born in the country? No Éric Lucas no Davey Hilton well... anyway.
Evander, the Canada in general probably sucks except for one Province who came up to the rise since a couple of years ago, and evreybody knows what province i'm talking about.

I've never seen any footage of Langford but from what I know about him. He seems like the best by far.

Tough to see footage from a guy who boxed in the 20's unless your name is Jack Johnson or Jack Dempesy

berbick was tricky too, as won the Canadian title in 2000 while he was illegally in Canada.Adamj1987 wrote:should be classed as jamaican thoughtzyuforever wrote:A bit like Lennox, except that he fought for Jamaica in the Olympics rather than Canada. Very decent and tough fighter but you can't really put him over guys who won world titles (Langford being an exception due to his era and politics).turn2stone wrote:Yikes !!! Am i missing some rule here? No Chuvalo.
